The Swan Thieves is the only one popping into my mind, but there are probably more.

Okay, scratch what I said. That artwork is insanely awesome. I'm buying all three books.
That is EXACTLY the kind of dark, morbid, and including the gallery art, occasionally perverse art I love. Fantastic stuff.
They WILL be my next purchases.
ETA: I notice on the website Holly Black praises The Child Thief - she's not much of an author herself, but I love the style of her books (morbid fairytales) so much that I love them irrespective of poor writing. So that's another promising sign.

Yeah they're all a bit dodgy except the two young 'uns, the obviously classically trained ones. One of whom is also a sparkly douchebag in Volterra
But I like the dodginess, it fits it with the sort of cartoon-y nature of Tim Burton's work.

Oh the Joanna Reprise/Medley is superb! I take no notice of all the killing, I'm too busy listening to Johnny!
That's my favourite song too, other than 'My Friends' which I think Johnny just sings really well.

I'm more into novels so I'm going to start with The Child Thief, and if the author's style catches my interest that will be enough to make me like the graphic novels.

Sweeney Todd!
It's on in HD on Anytime so I've just stuck it on as background noise. Love this movie though

I read another sixty pages last night, I'm still not doing as well as I'd like, but I'm hoping to read 100+ today.
-
Eeee thank you
-
Thank you! They were a nuisance because the paper was so light I couldn't use glue - it left streaky marks, so the gold trims had to be selotaped at the back (and covered with a backing card) and the fronts are actually sewn on with yellow thread. Other than the sewing they only took about 15 mins each though.
I've never made bookmarks before so I had to make these patterns up as I went along
-
Awesome! They're all safe ones. Not that I'd complain if you wanted to read the last one and consequently check out Jack's music
I have only read Pack Up The Moon out of those three, but I imagine they're all great. One of them is set just up the road from me in Kenmare, where the author grew up
I think that's 'The Truth Will Out'. I really must get the two I haven't read.

I was just watching cars skidding too, Ben. And watching my mother as far as I could down the road lest she should fall and require me to test out my skating skills in order to come to her rescue
Now I'm watching my brother, who has been up all night it seems, playing GTA 4

Thank goodness.. I thought I was going crazy! You are still welcome to dance on my bookshelf though!
Wahey! Unfortunately, I didn't like The Graveyard Book OR The Curious Incident, so maybe I should mosey quietly away...

I want The Child Thief.
Now.
NOW!!
Thanks Kell, I'm gonna grab that as soon as I can, and possibly the other two at a later stage. Given my love of "The Book Of Lost Things", you can imagine how much the sound of The Child Thief appleals to me

I bought a scrapbook-ing pack of materials the other day just because I liked the colours - terracotta, pale pink and yellow and gray/brown. It had little leaves, frames, textured card, string, and soft fabric paper in these colours.
So I did what any bookworm would do, and made some bookmarks
These are the first three, and I have two more planned.

Don't worry, I should have been more specific! Mental note: That's what the quote tags are there for, Noll
-
That's okay!
....coz Stargate is on now
-
Oh no, not you Frankie - Rawr! I got him a copy of Inkheart, but now Inkspell is on his list. I'm wondering whether he mixed them up, or read Inkheart and didn't tell me
You should read them again though Frankie, they're awesome
-
Inkspell? Does that mean you read Inkheart?
-
Some good books there, Kate! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on The Shakespeare Secret and The Book Of Lost Things

Deep Space Nine

Perfume is an excellent book, Dan, it's on a few reading lists this year! I can't wait to hear what you think of it
-
That's fantastic - did they say which titles they have? I've only read two of her four so far (her first and latest) and thought they were both great. The only thing I would say about the latest one is it's inspired by the work of an Irish singer that there is no way you could ever have heard, as 90% of Irish people don't even know him. (He's incredible though.)

I THINK it was you that had that convo with me when I first joined.. Something abt how comments were always welcome on my book thread, and you asked if you could even dance on it. I was like "Absolutely!" Maybe my memory is all off and it was someone else.. Either way, it was funny!
it was someone!!
No it does ring a bell all right, I at least read it!

I have a choice between BBQ chicken pizza and duck spring rolls - I think I'll have the pizza.
