  1. Hey all, this is a message to all Twilight fans (or Twilight haters if you wish to argue your point). I've just recently created a Twilight group for everyone to discuss all things Twilight . I'm pretty sure if you click on the link on your profile it will lead you to a page with all the groups on if you wish to join! It's only got two members at the moment but I'm hoping as Twilight seems to be quite popular, that more people will join soon

In reply (again) to this current thread. I really like Charlie in the film and book, I think he plays it really well and he's so sweet :P. Also, Mike irritates me both in the book and film, hehe.

  2. 1) I have three gorgeous nieces and one nephew. Plus, another one on the way!

    2) I've been with my partner for two and a half years.

    3) I have an almost embarrassing obsession with Twilight...

    4) My favourite colour changes, from purple, to dark blue, to emerald green. I can never decide. It's never brown, orange or yellow though..

    5) I want to live by the sea

  3. Hello  I'm new here too and I'm really enjoying it so far! Somewhere to voice my opinions on my favourite books when no-one else wants to listen

    Have fun and Merry Christmas!!

  4. I'm quite simple when it comes to films...I don't like it when they are too complex because I prefer to just laze around, watch with ease and not have to think too much, hehe. I like:

    Beaches.

    The Butterfly Effect.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up and Superbad (Hilarious!)

The Final Destination set (Even though they terrify me!)

    The Last Kiss.

    A Walk To Remember.

    The American Pie's!

The list could go on but I won't bore you all

  5. I had previously tried to read PS I Love You but found that too sentimental and felt like it was trying to hard to pull on the heartstrings it put me off. I gave up on that my the 3rd chapter.

I never finished that one either.

As for Where Rainbows End, once I got used to the letters and emailing style of telling the story, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I would say it's one of Ceceilia Ahern's best

  6. I'm reading New Moon again and I thought I'd like it better the second time round but I'm not so far! New Moon is my least favourite from the saga, mainly because of the lack of Edward and the abundance of Jacob  hehe.

I'm only 70 pages in and the really sad bit is happening right now .

Alice, Emmett and Edward are my favourite characters...I think I already posted that, but never mind :P

  7. I just find it so much effort to read a book like that, much prefer modern books, which is kinda sad because I'm probably missing out on a lot!

I'm exactly the same. I don't think I've ever read a book that could be classed as a 'classic'. Saying that, Wuthering Heights is on my wishlist as it seems to be recommended a lot, so I'm going to give that a go.

  8. This is going to sound really harsh. But this was one of the worst books I've read this year. I found it really boring and dull. I found myself rushing it to get through it so I could move onto the next book! I don't think it was badly written, the story just didn't appeal to me and I didn't care enough about the characters. It just wasn't for me.

  9. I do try my hardest to keep them in a good condition, but if I've read them a few times then the spines do tend to get a bit haggard! I never fold back the pages though and if the front cover gets bent back then I hate that, so I make an attempt to straighten it out!

As for lending them out to other people? :P I have had terrible experiences! I lent the half blood prince to my sister and it was returned with no spine at all, it had been ripped off by my two year old nephew!!! She's also lost my deathly hallows.

And then, I lent Twilight out to a friend and he got loads of food all over the cover! :P

Such an angry post, hehe!! I've learned a lesson though: Never lend your favourite books to anyone!

  10. Wow, I've lost count of the amount of books I've read this year and I've still got 30+ on my TBR pile!

The books that stand out from this year though, are:

Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

    Double Cross by Malorie Blackman

    Harry Potter :P

The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom

The Last To Know by Melissa Hill

    Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult

Lots of Adele Parks, Dorothy Koomson and Ceceilia Ahern books!

Overall it's been a pretty great reading year for me. I've got lots I want to read for 2009 too so that will hopefully be a similar year reading wise!!

    Disappointments/terrible reads?

All the Psychology textbooks I've been forced to read

Secret lives of Pippa Lee - I rushed it to finish it, not for me!

    Umm...

And there's probably more but I may have forgotten them :P

  11. Hello BookBee,

Me again! I have read Noughts and Crosses and absolutely loved it. I read it a few years ago, but have not read any of the sequals because I was too scared that I would be disappointed!! I take it that you weren't?

    Lolly

I admit that the first one is my favourite but I often find that with a series of books. That, or the last one . The other three in the series have a different feel to the first one as there's less focus on the romance side of things. But they're still amazing

  12. I'm quite surprised there isn't a more recent post about this series, I absolutely love them and I guess I assumed they were more popular then they are? The series is:

    Noughts and Crosses

    Knife Edge

    Checkmate

    Double Cross

They're for young adults, I read the first one when I was 13 and still love the entire series now, at 19. I would recommend them a thousand times over, they've got an element of everything and are so thought provoking. For me, they were one of those series that stays with you for a long, long time after you've finished them and can easily be read many times.

Without giving too much away, the first book is the story of Callum and Sephy and I would argue it's first and foremost a tragic romance with serious issues challenging them. Such as, racism and terrorism (or freedom fighters...depending entirely on your perspective).

The rest of the books follow the story of Callum and Sephy and then the narrator changes towards the end (I don't want to say who to, it may spoil the story!).

So, if you're looking for a new series which is as amazing as Twilight (in my opinion) yet deals with issues that are very much present in today's society, then you should buy this. It's amazing
