Just a quick quicky thing. I got the Acustraps in a chemist, but I just saw these,,,,

Did anybody see the tv programme about his alzheimers. Very interesting.
Oh yes, wasn't it fascinating?
It's difficult to know what to say about it, isn't it? I found the science regarding his Alzheimers riveting, but it was also so emotional and heart rending, not only for him, but for the people he encountered.
I found myself sympathetic to the candid admission from the daughter of a fellow PCA sufferer that she had a momentary "Yes!" moment when TP revealed his condition, knowing it would bring publicity, money and research in a way that a non celebrity sufferer couldn't.
I found Mr Pratchett to be a really thoughtful and intelligent man, but he lacked any cloying piety thank goodness! As he says of his PCA himself; it's an 'embuggerance'!

- not boats though - too busy being sick to read!
To the artist formerly known as KB!
Can I recommend Acustraps?
I was always unwell on boats until I got these. My symptoms would range from a nauseous sloshing sensation to the full blown....well you know where I'm heading with this.
These strap things are fab. You measure three fingers down from the crease where your hand meets your wrist, then you firmly strap the velcro wristband on with the knobbly bit smack in the middle of your inner wrist.
Do this before you get on the boat/ship, and DO NOT take off until you are back on land. I did 4 Channel crossings in December and was able to read, eat, drink (coffee), chat - you know, I was normal.

...head off and find Spot so he could actually.....

I can read on boats, buses, coaches, trains and planes, but not cars.
I can briefly look at a map, but even then I have to be quick. Strange really, when it is absolutely no problem on/in any other form of transport.

We didn't mean to watch it, but the telly was playing up and we could only get BBC 1 clearly!
OMG! It was funny.
Les Dennis - he had the perfect attitude, and I'm surprised he didn't go further.
Dick and Dom? I love The Blues Brothers but I cannot bear these two I'm afraid.
Robert Webb? Stunning!
I'm tuning in on purpose next week!

I had not heard of either this book, or the author. Avoiding the spoilers, it looks as those this has really caught everyone's attention.
Oh darn, Amazon here I come.......

Yup, fiction that is written in the time in which its set. Jane Austen's novels could actually be classed as such because she set them at the time of writing...
I always thought of CF as being books written in recent (after WW2) years that was not classified by any other genre title.
I suppose that absolute definitions of genres don't interest me as such when I am chossing a book to read outside of my Crime & Thriller comfort zone!
Boy, you really do learn something new every day!

Chippy van?? I've never heard of that, i wish we had one around here!I think I remembered reading before that Chrissy lives in a small village and so they only get the van once a week as they don't have a chip shop there
Yep, small village, great fish 'n' chip van though! It was Yuhummmmmmm!
I would hate to drive a F'n'C van though - country lanes and hot fat!

Page Numbers - Grr!

Page numbers just don't bother me. When I did my degree I used them as a reference point for notes etc, but personal reading? I only notice if I haven't a bookmark handy and need to remember where I was.
I also find that my mind registers page shape rather than number, so if I want to look back at something in the book I'm reading than I will find it by seeing the page again. Just realised how weird that actually sounds.
