  1. Oh I love that film. It was never released over here and its such a shame.
  2. Jacket spuds with Chilli & cheese. Very yummy it was too.
  3. Pistachio & amaretto are my top favourite. I'm also fond of cherry, coconut and cinnamon flavoured ice creams too. We did have some wonderful golden syrup flavoured ice cream for tea on Sunday. It had little spongy bits in it & it was rather gorgeous.
  4. Look forward to seeing your comments on Nov reading circle. Please don't be scared to post what you want to say on there. We have a great bunch of member here who respect every one's point of view. The mods are great too.
  5. I've had snails. They were chopped up and served with garlic butter. It wasn't much different to eating mushrooms. Same sort of texture, but I tiny bit more chewy. I quite liked them. I've never had haggis (but I love black pudding so I guess I might like it), foie gras, horse, veal, frogs legs, rabbit and oysters.I've never tried monkfish either.
  6. Glad that your evening has been a better one. I'm fine thanks for asking. Just feeling a little bit lonely, as OH is working so I won't see him until tomorrow afternoon. I know I said it before on the "what's up" thread, but congrats on the baby news.

  7. Thank you Poppet. xxx I'm fine. Just got the little one to bed, He's been a bit of a pain this evening. Just watch X-factor now.

  10. Toy Story 2 always makes me bawl I'm ashamed to say. Its Jessie's song that starts me off. I always have to go upstairs and give my childhood doll a cuddle after.
  11. While I loved The Kite Runner, I adored A Thousand Splendid Suns. I warmed & understood the characters more But I don't know if that was down to the book being set from female eyes. Like TKR its not always comfortable reading, but worth it. I'll like to see what he could do with a story set outside the history of Afghanistan. BTW - how are you enjoying The Stepmother? I've had it on by TBR for ages.

  13. Oh, I'm soooo gutted too. I've heard rumours for a while, but really hope that they would be just that. Tennant just is the Dr, it will be so hard to replace him.
  14. not too bad... Spent a fortune in Sainsburys to feed the family like you do. Just settling down ready to watch Harry Hill

  15. LOL... and you started a day after me. :)

  16. You'll never go to sleep again.

  20. Before everyone starts reporting me for putting this in the wrong area, this is a tale of Mr Malik, birdwatcher, citizen of Nairobi and wearer of a comb over. Despite his ordinary appearance Mr Malik has a secret. He is hopelessly in love with Rose, leader of the Tuesday morning bird walk. Just when he plucks up the courage to ask Rose to the Annual Hunt Ball, flash Harry Kahn appears into his life again, bane of his youth and now looks to destroy his possible date. When Mr Malik let his secret out, a wager is set. Can he see the most birds in a week? All I can say is you need to read it to find out. This is a charming book full of warmth and love. Mr Malik is a wonderful character and you are willing him all the way to get the girl. It has just the right amount of humour without it getting too silly and love the way the narrator seems to become a character in his own right. The book looks fab as well, with hand drawn pictures of birds on every chapter. A really lovely feel good read.
  21. We have three bookcases in the spare room and I have a little pile of library books my the side of the computer desk.
  22. I read this a couple of months ago. A really unusual but riveting read. Like you Janet, a lot of the physics/science went over my head a little but it never seemed boring.
