I was reading a book called Me & Emma - but I have decided to stop. I just don't want to read about children being chained to metal poles, fed dog food & being sexually abused by their step-father. Not what I want to be reading, really.

Falafel - it's yummmm!

Hi Abby! Welcome to the forum!

I forced myself to finish it, to my incredible regret, because I hated every minute of it. To me, it was the Forest Gump of the literary world - horrible.

Episode 2, series 1 of Gavin & Stacey. We're working our way through all the dvd's - watching an episode each night with dinner.
-
For me, it was without a doubt 100 years of Solitude - god how I hated that book! 1 million years of boredom, more like!

Or what about this?

Peanutbutter & raspberry jam sandwich on soy & flaxseed bread.

Linda, what the ladies said is 100% accurate! I loved all 3 of your books - they were fantastic & I think the publishers are fools!
-
I definitely second the Boris Starling recommendation! I'd also recommend Fatherland & Archangel, both by Robert Harris. Excellent books!

Italy can't win if it's the Grand Slam you are talking about - they haven't won a game yet of the 2 they have played. I'm picking France for the Grand Slam & poor Italy for the wooden spoon.
Less than a month until OH & I will be in Cardiff cheering on Wales as they play vs Italy. Like Jonathan said "Go Wales!"

I watched last night's game (Canada vs US mens) & Canada were ****! They didn't deserve to win & really need to shake things up if they think they can/want to go much further!
On a sadder note, if I was the fans of the Vancouver Canucks, I'd be doing everything in my power to have Ryan Kesler traded. Why should they have someone playing for their team, in our country, who has gone on the record as saying he hates Canada? Send him back to the USA if that is how he feels!

I finished reading Water for Elephants today - loved loved loved it! Not sure what to start next, I had been in a real reading funk of late, but Ijust zoomed through WfE! Something light, I think.

GB vs USA in women's curling. GB leading 3-1 in the 5th end.

I started reading Water for Elephants yesterday on the train to Manchester & then read some more on the train back this morning. It's really good!

Deaver's written about the 1930s and Hitler? Didn't know that. I don't have the book though, but I'm curious about it.

Well Inver, what an incredible game! Scotland played some incredible rugby today (even if they were helped by the ref along the way, lol) & certainly didn't deserve to lose. They played much better than Wales did & if it's any consolation my OH is well p*%sed that Wales won the way they did & had reallu been rooting for Scotland to win because of how badly Wales was playing!

runner - I used to be a competitve cyclist when I was younger & up until my move over here to Europe I used to cycle to & from work every day, which was a 20km cycle each way. I loved it!
Since moving over here I have tried to continue with my cycling as much as possible, but it has been far from easy. I don't currently own a bike, but do plan to get a new one & will begin cycling to work again, though from where I currently live it'll only be about 4km to work, then 4km back, luckily it's a very hilly route, though.

I just finished "206 Bones" by (http://kathyreichs.com/) Kathy Reichs. I've gone hot and cold on this series (forensic examiner kind of person, set in Canada and US both), but this one really kept my interest. Just thought I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good book to read.
Yea!! I was waiting eagerly for the next installment!

Am still reading Picture Perfect, but not really enjoying it. Have also started reading Certainty by Madeleine Thien.

Simply because of the nature of the books (computer users being murdered because of their computer use), the 2 most disturbing books I have read are The Blue Nowhere & The Broken Window. Both are by Jeffery Deaver & scared the bejesus out of me because what happened in the books could soooooo easily happen in real life! So much so that I completely stopped using loyalty cards of ANY variety!
-
And then she read The Broken Window & now she's paranoid about computer hackers, lmao! Scary how real it all could be!
Excellent review, Lexie

I used to follow it religiously - even going to the race in Canada every year, but over the past few years, not so much. My favourite driver has retired & I really don't care for the 2 drivers on my favourite team, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to whether to bother now or not.
