  1. What a great thread! I haven't really sticked to a list so far but I want to try if in 2009. This is what I want to read: 1. Laureats of the Nobel price of literature (I am trying to get these books second hand, so I do not know which I will get in 2009. 2. main reading circle (3 books) 3. classics reading circle (3 books) 4. Terry Pratchett (3 books) 5. German crime fiction (3 books) 6. Die Vermessung der Welt (Measuring the World) by Daniel Kehlmann 7. Tintenherz (Inkheart) by Cornelia Funke I bought a little calendar book for 2009 and am planning to write kind of a reading diary in there. Some comments and thoughts on the books I have read on a day. Should be interesting when looking at it at a later time.
  2. I got some new book shelves and have a chance to sort all my books now. So I'll do this and count how many I haven't read yet - and I guess I should make some kind of 2009 challenge for this pile... It might take some days though to get all my books into the new bookshelves (not sure yet how to sort them:blush:) but I will let you know how many books are on my TBR pile!
  3. It seems that I had quite a typical start on the Pratchett series. I also started with The Colours of Magic, went on with The Light Fantasticand then went on to Mort. I've read some more in the meantime but I have to say that I still love The Colours of Magic. May be this is because it's the book that hooked me. I even re-read it and enjoyed it more than the first time I read it because I took my time for laughing about all the puns and great one-liners. I really love the little imp and his nagging when he is running out of ink And I also liked Death very much which is why I read Mort. I just loved it and cannot wait reading the next book in this row. So far, the little imp and Mort are my absolute favourites but as I do not know all yet, this might of course change...
  4. Oh, RoxiS, that sounds great! Let us know what you are reading. I love books of that time and have read quite a lot of them. They are always great for discussing

  19. Unfortunaltey, I didn't read any books that were published this year because I had so many books lying around that I hadn't read yet that I didn't buy any new ones but was just reading through my book pile. Phew... But it's a great page. I bookmarked it and will certainly have a closer look at the books listed there and see what I'd like to read.
  20. Is there anyone else currently reading this book or am I the only one?
  21. I got the book only yesterday and haven't started reading yet. But I will do so tomorrow when I am sitting in the tube on my way to work.
  22. Hi wordsgood

Thanks for your message. I really enjoy my time here very much and look forward to meeting you in one of the forums ;-)

  23. When reading the books I always thought that she put quite a lot of details in there and when discussing the books with other people I noticed that everyone was award of details the others overlooked or forgot again. I will therefore really start re-reading the books and am curious to see what I overlooked the first time and what is in there that is already pointing to some of the future events in the following books. Is there anyone else who is planning to re-read the books? Would be nice to hear what your impression is about whether and how she crafted the books from the beginning.
  24. At least this always changes a bit I've been to Somerset, Dorset, Kent, West and East Sussex, and Cornwall.
