Ice Hockey

In Finland we have this thing called Kisastudio. Usually me and my friend do that with the realityshows we watch but it's good for ice hockey too! Unfortunately my ice hockey loving friend's outta town but hey, as long as there's the thread on BCF, there's hope.

Ceinwenn have you tried with different browsers? For example some things just never work when I'm using Opera but they do work if I change to Explorer.

When people tell me to stay of topic.
Wouldn't telling you to stay off topic be useless?
Only kidding

Why is everyone constantly referring to me as 'beast' or 'monster'??? You're all off the cookie list now. *pouts**laughs*
Good, I could lose a few pounds!!
I honestly laughed my ass off at Bethany's first comment, one of the most funniest moments on the forum I've experienced!

Oh, dear God...
What, what's the matter??
ii I was actually surprised to come to the forum after a few days off and not finding a thread of the championships started by you! Phew I'm glad you're supporting Finland, I was worried you might go with USA or some other country because of some weird reason.
I haven't watched too many games yet and I'm not such a big fanatic as to watch every single game, I usually just watch Finland's games (sometimes Sweden's too). Finland hasn't played against any tough opponent's yet (Norway and Denmark, why do they even try?) so can't really say much yet
But it's good to have you here ii to give more professional opinions about things!!

I must admit that many things bug me, but the majority of them fall in the general driving/parking category.
Here here! I don't know what it is about traffic that makes me so upset sometimes, I haven't always been like this. I really really get annoyed when people driving cars don't signal when they're turning, making me stop or wait for them in vain. I also hate those young drivers in fancy cars who drive like maniacs and drive so fast for 50 meters only to have to brake really hard to stop at the next street.
Sometimes I'm so pissed off by traffic that when I stop to wait for a car to go by so I can then cross the street in peace, I become even more upset when the driver actually stops to let me cross the street first. Which is stupid because it's really nice of him/her to do so and I should be glad, but I only get more annoyed because now I have to cross the street quickly because he/she is waiting for me to do it. Really stupid of me, I know
Sometimes I'm not that easily irritated though and sometimes I do really appreciate drivers giving me the chance to go first and when this happens, I sometimes smile at the driver or might even wave a little or put my thumbs up in appreciation.

I know there are some of you who are into ice hockey and watch these games so quit hiding and join me to see who's winning the World Championship this year! Who do you support? Who would you hate to see win?
I support team Finland (of course) and I would just hate to lose to Sweden. But then again, I do love Sweden and if Finland doesn't win, I'd be happy to give the medals to the Swedes. USA and Canada are tough cookies as well, and for some reason I wouldn't want either of them to win, especially USA. Canada's been so good for so long that I'd like to see them eat dust!! (I'm ranting and raving now but please bear in mind that I'm talking ice hockey only and don't want to offend anyone personally!)

Charm oooh, excellent!
Do you think you'll be interested in The Coffin Dancer
I'm going to check out your blog for your thoughts
-
Oh good you found your way here Nicola, forget what I wrote in the messages I sent you regarding LR! And take your time with The Coffin Dancer and don't panic because I've got those teen fic books I want to finish
Then we can catch up with The Vampire Lestat.
I've got the next two Lincoln Rhyme books coming my way in a week I think. I'll be reading those as soon as I've finished my nostalgic teen fic, The Vampire Lestat and the Dexter books. Oh my, my to-be-read-instantly pile is growing
-
If I've caught up I'll definately join you in The Empty Chair, after I finish The Bone Collector .... The Coffin Dancer...... Dexter in the Dark and Dexter by Design of course!
If we keep going on like this soon we've organized and planned our reading for the whole year
Kidding!
But it is really nice to have people who read the same books at the same time
-
Charm
Do you want me to edit my posts so there's nothing to read about LR books??
Edit: Ps. I'm up for the third LR book The Empty Chair after reading The Vampire Lestat and the Dexter books if anyone's interested in joining me. Maybe after a couple of weeks. (I also need to get the book first of course)

I finished The Historian!
Do I read Deaver (The Bone Collector) or Dexter next??
I'm thinking you should read The Bone Collector first because it's amazing! (And because I still need to read The Vampire Lestat before I can move on to Dexter in the Dark.) But if you already want to read Dexter go ahead, I'll catch up with you later. Maybe Ceinwenn is already waiting for you to begin reading darlind delectable Dexter
I finished The Coffin Dancer this morning and it really did blow my mind!! I thought nothing could beat The Bone Collector but this one was just so amazing. Those of you who've read the book and read my spoilertags know how stupid I feel right about now
At some point I did think that maybe there was something fishy about Jodie, but I was thinking more along the lines that maybe he and Stephen switched places in the old station and Stephen went along with Dellray and Sachs, playing the role of Jodie. But as Stephen continued his journey in the first person monologue I knew that that wasn't it. That's what threw me, reading Stephen Kall's own thoughts in first person. I never questioned Stephen being the Coffin Dancer. I never never would've guessed he was just a contract killer hired by the real Dancer.
The point when I thought
the game was lost was when Percey, Brad and Bell were in the plain and found out about the bomb. I couldn't figure out how they would come out of it alive. Deaver's just genious. Rhyme has so many different options which he suggested and when all seemed useless he came up with yet another one. That Denver idea was amazing.
Also,
Talbot being the person behind all of it instead of Hansen was a surprise, too. I did think at one point that the company was doing a bit too badly for one that seemed to be getting so many gigs and I thought that maybe there was something fishy about that, maybe somebody had too deep pockets for the company's good. But I forgot about this and didn't connect it with the whole story at any point. I never liked Percey, but when they discovered that Talbot did this all I felt so sorry for her
I'm sure there was something else but I can't remember what it was. Maybe it'll come to me later. All I gotta say is that Deaver's just brilliant, I don't know how he does it.

Me four! Wow. And I picture her as elegant, not sexy.....until she is behind closed doors...
Elegant, as-a-matter-of-fact, sophisticated kind of woman.
-
I`m glad you said the re-read didn`t spoil the story for you. Like you it`s been a long time since I read The Coffin Dancer, and I really can`t remember it that well either, I might consider a re-read myself now!
There are a couple of us who are reading this at the mo, feel free to join us
And if you're too busy to read it now, join the Lincoln Rhyme thread when you've had a chance to reread it, we'd love more comments!
-
In 27 minutes??
Nope not yet, I still have 150 pages left
But your comment makes me think there's something that's about to happen that will blow my mind, I cannot wait!
-
I'm still reading The Coffin Dancer, I'm on page 350 or something. I'm really really intrigued by it but I have been surprisingly busy for the last few days so I haven't had as much time to read as I would have wished. There are a few things I'd like to mention about the book. First of all,
I was really pissed at Percey for trying to save her plane and risking her own life while trying to close the doors, thus forcing others to react and protect her. Poor Banks. I was so glad Sachs scolded her for it. However, I was utterly surprised when Rhyme defended Percey
He's been really distant towards Sachs and I'm sorta pissed out about it on her behalf. I think it's so cute that Sachs is so jealous over Rhyme, though.
The second thing I have to say is that my favorite bit so far has been
the encounter between Stephen and Jodie. I think their conversations were so touching in some ways. For a second I forgot that Stephen was a brutal murderer and I just enjoyed seeing his humane side. It didn't come as a surprise though that he would kill Jodie and have no regrets about it. I was surprised though that the bomb was in the cell phone he gave to Jodie. I wasn't surprised that Rhyme had figured it out, but I never, never would've guessed he would use it as a decoy and fake an exlosion of a smaller scale. That was just so incredibly genious of him, I think. But I did figure out that Stephen would try to enter as a fireman.
But that was just about the only thing I've been able to figure out, all the other twists have come as a surprise. That's why I like Deaver so much
I'm hoping to finish the book tonight. I'm going to have start looking for the other Lincoln Rhyme -books online, there are no copies in the library and I think I'll want to own them as I'm sure I'll read them more than once.

I also always thought of Scarpetta having an understated sexual vibe thing that attracted the men in her life, rather than an obvious thing that would only produce wolf whistles.
Without having realised this before on a conscious level, I think likewise. Jolie is so wrong on so many levels.
-
Hello Glowmay and welcome to the forum! I'm glad you found us and hope you enjoy the place
-
Well Scarpetta wasn't always that old, in her first novel she was still relatively young, Angelina is no spring chicken you know!
Well I have to give you that much, I don't actually even remember her age but I always had this idea of her in my head that she was older. My Scarpetta image is very much influenced by Cornwell's own pictures in the back covers of her books, actually.
-
She wouldn't have been my choice either even though I do like her, I'm kinda getting used to the idea though
I'm not getting used to it, I think she spoils the whole thing. I got excited when I read the thread title and was shocked to see Angelina Jolie was going to play Kay Scarpetta. It's like Tom Hanks playing Robert Langdon in The Da Vinci Code but the opposite way: sexing a character up and making her younger than she is.

Paulo Coelho's Alchemist. I mean it was an okay story but to say that it has changed so many people's lives is a bit much I think. Yes, it was about not giving up and fulfilling your dreams and all that but in the end, his dream was to find a treasure. Capital capital. Like they sing in the themesong for The Apprentice: "Money money money moooneyy. Moooooneyyyy!!"
