Nicola, what are you doing still up? Get off the forum and into bed with the book!! Off you go!!
Nobody has created the social group while I was gone?
Am I supposed to do it myself? I have no idea how to go about it.

We should get the thread renamed; Jeffrey and the Deaverettes!
Or we should put up a social group and name it that way
And how 'bout them Dexterettes as well!

Okay that settles it then! I'll nip to the book shop tomorrow and see if I can get hold of The Bone Collector. I have a ways to go in the book I a reading now (it is a not a book you can rush, this one) so it will have to wait a while but I am really fired up to read these now.
Good decision!
Seems like you're reading The Crimson Petal and the White and that's one big book so it truly might take some time
Chrissy, Deaverettes
That's a good one!

I love the Lincoln Rhymes books. I have read two, both bought from charity shops. I have read The Vanished Man and The Twelfth Card. I have to read the rest but want to go back and start from the beginning.
I am not starting my new Wish List!
You should definitely start from the beginning!
You are in for a treat, I just read the first two LR books and for me they were mind blowing. I think Jeffery Deaver is competing against himself in a league of his own, no one's up to par with him

Yep, although the winning didn't feel as great as it normally would've done because we came in second in the group thingie. But, beating Canada only means that we _do_ have what it takes to win the championship, in my opinion. I'm eagerly waiting for the rest of the games.

Finland's scored the 2 goals already!!
Edit: 10 minutes left, 3-3. This is nerve wrecking!!! Whatever the outcome, it's been a really good game.
Edit: It was still 3-3 in the end, then we went to overtime, no result, then the penalty shootout (is that English? My sports jargon is not quite up to date...) and Finland did win the game, but Canada got the group victory, Finland is second.

Glad to hear you liked The Stone Monkey Maureen
I have to brag about finally getting The Stone Monkey and The Empty Chair today in the mail. Also found The Vanishing Man by chance in a charityshop today so I've got the next three LR books in line waiting to be read
(I still haven't watched the Bone Collector, hmph! Maybe I should watch it this weekend)

Your guesses depress me
They may be realistic but that doesn't help at all. I'll hope for a tie at least, if Finland doesn't win

Hello Suzanna and welcome to the forum!

I've been considering Marley and Me, mostly because I think I will go see the movie, and would like to read the book first.
In my opinion the book is so much better than the movie, I definitely recommend reading the book first!

Slovakia.Germany's an embarrassment. AND they can't be eliminated, that's so unfair! They don't deserve the spot in the Champs with the way they're playing right now.
Agreed!
Today it's the Czechs vr Slovakia and Finland vs Belarus.

I hope it's not because you have so many books waiting in line. Try a magazine for a change, or just take a little break

Dexter`s humour is great - I loved the bit when he said to Dr Danco, " I think you have him stumped "
I'm sure the Finnish translation was adequite enough but heck, I don't remember that!! I'm glad I have the three latest Dexters in English now, I've read Dexter in Finnish before. I've got the first Dexter in Finnish which annoys me endlessly
I'm really glad you're enjoying Dexter though

Here's some more details, Czechs scored another one already
2-1.
Very unpleasant details.
Edit: 2nd period, 3 minutes into the game and it's 3-1. No comments.
Edit: About 1 minute later Finland scores!!! 3-2 to Czechs. Go Finland!!
Edit: What's wrong with Czechs's Roman Polak and his fists? Two penalties already, he seems to have ants in his pants.
Edit: 3-3!!!!! Finland evens the score!!
Edit: Don't you just hate Jarkko Ruutu? The dude indirectly admits to the Finnish cameras that he faked his little "injury" and so got the other dude to get the penalty. And smirks about it!! He should take his hockey elsewhere, I do not accept this
Edit: FINLAND SCORESSSSS!!! 4-3!!! 8 minutes left!
Edit: OMG I cannot believe we really won!!! 4-3!!! Happy birthday Kapanen, 2+2!

I just remembered the game's already started, Finland vs. the Czech Republic and I watched it for like 1 minute and then out of nowhere Finland made the first goal!!
Edit: And it took like 1-2 minute afther that for the Czechs to score a goal

That's not a bad price at all
Are you going to read it soon? Remember to post your thoughts afterwards

I keep running into this book in one of my favorite charityshops and I always pick it up and wonder whether I should buy it. But it's like 4 euros or so and I'm used to getting my books cheaper, and this one's really not on my TBR so I hesitate and then I hesitate some more and always end up putting it back
I hope you enjoy the book! (And I hope that if it's any good the book hasn't disappeared from the charityshop by then...)

I certainly haven't updated this in a while if I was still reading Coffin Dancer while writing the last post! Well, The Coffin Dancer was of course amazing! It was even better than the first Lincoln Rhyme novel The Bone Collector which I thought would be impossible. My more detailed thoughts will be found in the dearly beloved Lincoln Rhyme thread
After that I read Paulo Coelho's Alchemist which I found an okay read, but really rather overrated. Thoughts found in the Most overrated book thread
After that I picked up The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice but had to put it down to give way to the Making Waves -series by Katherine Applegate, a nostalgic reread from my teenage. I'd read the first book of the series a bit earlier and now managed to find the rest of the series in my hometown library and so I read books 2-7. Easy, quick and refreshing <3
Picked up The Vampire Lestat after that but I'm struggling with it at the moment. Won't give up though!
