  1. I do have the Journals and eventhough I haven't read them yet, it's one of my most precious books. It'll be so interesting that I'm almost afraid to start it. But I don't have that Electric Kool-Aid book yet, but it's one of the Rory books I'm most interested in! I want it, I want it bad When did you read The Bell Jar? Maybe you weren't in the right mood for it... Or maybe it's just not for you. I must recommend Ronald Hayman's The Death and Life of Sylvia Plath, it's a really insightful biography of Sylvia. Before reading it I always thought Sylvia was just a self-centered weirdo and I didn't think too much of her since I don't even read poetry, but then I read that Hayman book and I can't begin to describe you what kind of an effect it had on me, I totally identified with Sylvia in some parts of her life. I started to understand her personality and her decisions (the suicide) a lot better and I felt like she was a precious but lost spirit. It totally changed my opinion of her, and after that I just had to get the journals. I really think you might enjoy that book as well. I still haven't read The Bell Jar yet, btw, I'm looking forward to that one as well
  2. I also live on the second floor but that didn't stop me from freaking out, I thought he could easily climb to the balcony and come and get me (well, if he rises from the dead, he should be able to manage the climb, right?). Brrr!! Hm... I don't think I could watch the TV adaptation. I happened to notice a DVD of that in a charityshop this week and I started shivering as I picked the copy up. Too graphic for me, no thanks! Edit: Kylie, the review is on my 2009 blog. I gave it a 5/5 and would definitely recommend it to anyone who's interested in reading true crime novels
  3. I've only seen season 7 once, but I have this vague memory that everyone was like, oh well thank you! I guess.. we'll just pack and uhm... leave...
  4. Yep Lisa-Marie, I bought it on Tuesday, I just happened to find it But I'm not expecting much from it though, it's not rated very high on goodreads and it's not the 'real deal'. I'll read it of course but I wish Mitchell had written it herself
  5. I read 250 pages of GwtW today and I've just finished it! I feel like I've just run a marathon, but with my eyes. It's quite weird to see that I'm actually in Finland, and it's 2010. I even felt weird writing that number! All I can say is wow wow wow! I wish Margaret Mitchell had written a sequel!
  6. Read about 250 pages of Gone with the Wind, thus finishing it. An amazing read!
  7. Hm you haven't had time to put it up yet perhaps :)

  8. Hiya Kylie! It sounds like you had a great time :D Bookshopping is definitely a must on a birthday ;) And you got lovely gifts as well! I already posted this on your reading blog (or was it the Book Activity -thread) that I think you're doing a great job restraining yourself from book buying. Not that I want you to not buy books, but it that's what you want I'll support you all the way :friends0: And I think it shows strength to not buy a book if the copy is very tatty.

I'm now gonna take a look at the photo you took :D

  9. I heart Rhett Butler! I'm on page 692 and This is one wonderful and thrilling read, my heart was beating so fast when I was reading the last couple of pages, I was so nervous!
  10. Great review missy, I'm really glad you liked it And you didn't even waste much time getting the book, I remember us talking about it and the next minute you'd purchased it and the next thing I know you've already finished it! Were you creeped out by the book? I remember it was summer / early autumn when I read it and I kept the curtains open in the living room so the room would be as light as possible and I would be able to tell if Bundy would come and haunt me.... It was a pretty chilling period!
  11. For me it's totally random. If I'm visiting the local bookshop, I usually stay there for less than 15 minutes because I get so depressed by the prices. If I'm visiting Akateeminen in Helsinki, I can stay for hours because they have a huge amount of English novels to go through And a very own section for crime fiction... and three floors... Swedish speaking customers... Everything's shiny... precious...
  12. Well, in all fairness, I would buy every Deaver book I can get my hands on in a charityshop/secondhand bookshop, without reading the blurb. (I would have to check my list of already bought Deavers though!)
  13. Great progress Lucybird! I think you're almost at the part that I was ranting about in the GwtW -thread, I'm not sure. You'll be able to read the spoiler soon me thinks I read about 100 pages of GwtW yesterday, am going to read another huge chunk today.
  14. You have been so good lately and I still think you are, it's not like you bought tons of books! Nice batch of birthday pressies, you've earned it I particularly like the Larsson and Evanovich pressies (not read them but will think would enjoy them, and I knew you definitely will!) Also, great job on winning on ebay! And the best thing: You're going to get the Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath!! Yay! And I'm so jealous for the Electric Koo-Aid Acid Test book :)
  15. Deaver's written about the 1930s and Hitler? Didn't know that. I don't have the book though, but I'm curious about it.
  16. Have you read that one before or is this the first time? A good read IMO Okay I'm gonna sign off so I can actually start reading!
  17. Cooool Mexicola!! You can't go wrong with Gilmore Girls I just hope that you won't become so engrossed by the series that you stop reading books and stop coming to BCF...
  18. Haha Well, computer = BCF, usually Great to hear you're enjoying Bitten so much, I've heard some people say that it takes a couple of books from the series to convince one to read the whole series but with you it doesn't even take one whole book
  19. Well I'm truly glad to hear that you're loving it Seems like all of us who started it are really enjoying it, it was definitely a good choice! I've read about 540 pages, still 340 to go I love the book but I do want to finish it quickly so I can start reading other books for a change (But somehow I'm always glued to my computer and I really have to make an effort to go offline and start reading... )
  20. Especially when I think you were the one with the particularly long edition? I hope you don't feel pressured to read it just because of the Rory group now though, I hope you still want to read it for yourself.
  21. Good thing we didn't book LotR for March then, aye? And it's only 14th of Febbie, you still have time
  22. You have a lot of things going on right now so no wonder
  23. frankie

    Hiya!

Wow, squirrels! They must be quick and nosey little busybodies! What a cool odd bunch of different animals! Sorry to hear about your chinchilla I wish you luck with getting the hubby to see that there's no real life without having a dog
  24. Nicola, that's real sweet of him Awww! I'm nowhere near finishing GwtW this weekend, but I'm gonna try and read a huge chunk of it today
