  1. ... a lot lately, because it's been over 30 C for over a month or so, you'd feel right at home if you'd be here right now :)

I think it's an excellent thing, me getting used to the Aussie accent, no laughing at yours anymore I swear! I think if anyone's going to laugh at the other's accent it's you :D

  2. Argh, now I did the same thing as you did a couple of days ago, I posted on my prof page! :D

Weird that you hadn't heard about the mosaic, it being in Sydney! And why would anyone not like coffee?? I think it's an inbred thing in Finland, we're a serious bunch of coffee drinkers. You have to be, to beat the long dark winter ;) Heheh, I've been thinking about you a l...

  3. I started watching the episodes from season 1 maybe 3-4 months ago and got as far as season 2 but stopped watching it for some reason or another. Lately I've been thinking a lot about starting to watch the series again, from the very start and I just have to do it. I love it. I love it when Rory was still such an innocent young girl and all. Dean <3 And everything.
  4. I think it's also good training for me to get familiar with the Aussie accent which I've found a bit hilarious before. Now I'm growing more accustomed to it and it's really nice :) There's this one competitor who's got a really thick accent! It's not hard to understand at all, but I find it very hard to copy! You have to give me lessons some day :) xo

  5. Morning Kylie! I thought I'd pop in and say hello since I'm up so late that it's the early hours over there :) Also, I wanted to mention that I've just started watching Biggest Loser - Australian season number don't remember! At first it seemed so different from the US one I thought I wouldn't like it but then watched on and I grew to like the people!

  6. I'm loving Chesilbeach's new one, for very obvious reasons
  7. I would not hold it against you should you make a daily commentary about the episodes you've been watching during the day, it's always so much fun to think back on the great episodes and hear how the 'new' fans are relating to it and what they think about it By the way, loving your new avatar Keep it up Chesil!!
  8. Haha you're quite right, it's not just the GG group but the whole forum in general, that makes our wishlist and TBR list expand exponentially! I hear you, sometimes you just want to go for books you know you'll enjoy. I think summer is that kind of a season, you want to read either comfy chicklit or great thrillers you know you'll enjoy or something along the lines. Brains need no extra work what with all the summer heat (although I hear you guys are not particularly bothered about heat, you guys having none of it this summer ... :// ) Edit: I just noticed you've nominated Wasp Factory for the September reading circle. Now that's a book that doesn't leave you cold! My BF recommended it many a times and since it was on the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die -list, I eventually read it. I hated it and was totally grossed by it all the while I was reading it, but when I'd finished it and I'd realised the huge twist in the end, I have to say I started to think about the novel in a whole new different way. I'm definitely going to have to re-read it again, knowing the whole 'thing'. A good suggestion, Ooshie! (Allthough I'm not going to promise to second your suggestion, I suck at reading circles, either not reading the circle book or not commenting enough on it)
  9. Welcome! Wow, a workaholic, one hardly ever comes across with that breed What do you do if I may ask?
  10. Catwoman, excellent choice, happy Deaver Day I managed to read about 40 pages of Aftermath before I fell asleep last night.
  11. It's one of my favourites as well, incredibly cunning! We also had those politically incorrect titles but I thinks they've settled on a more politically correct one nowadays, something very similar to 'And Then There Were None'. Nah, I found a 20e note on the ground and couldn't see anyone who might've lost it so kind of confiscated it You mean The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Some of his titles are indeed hard to master I'm thinking this Kandy-Kolored novel title will take me ages to memorize. Definitely a whacky name, partly why I had to buy it. I had no idea, though, that it's all non-fiction and just essays. I haven't been able to read in days. I've been watching Profiler season 1+2 and when I go to bed with my current read I can't remember a single thing I read the previous night so I have to go back and skim through read pages. Then I doze off almost immediately. It's getting annoying. I'm going back home tomorrow so will have time to read on the train.
  12. Ooooh, I really like the sound of this, but I think I would be too lazy to do it, and of course I'd want to write very neatly and that's something I can't do anymore due to not having to write with a pencil/pen in ages. Hmph.
  13. I have no idea why I've missed your The Perks of Being a Wallflower review, but I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! I had a difficult time with it in the beginning, I couldn't see myself getting attached to the main character but then it all clicked. Such a lovely read, definitely re-read material And another novel you might not have read if not for the GG challenge Seems like you've had really good reading experiences this month, I hope it continues on. Happy reading
  14. Chesilbeach, you weren't kidding, you're truly a fan now and there's no going back I'm so happy we've converted another one, Team GG! Chesil, don't you just hate all the moments when Luke's watching Lorelai and just swooning over her, but she doesn't seem to know anything about it? Luke's one of my all time top fave characters <3
  15. Tom Wolfe has many good ones, for example The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test and The Pump House Gang.
  16. Sorry Charm if my own enthusiasm over the new Dexter novel seemed like homework for you. I'll try and remember your Anita Blake -marathon and not bother you with other books
  17. Good decision Ooshie And Sara, thanks for the Lagerlöf title, I'd forgotten about it but now I've added it to my wishlist
  18. Hi Kylie, sad to hear you had a bought of insomnia a couple of days ago. If you want to talk, I'm listening *hug*

BTW, I just noticed in the news that some people in Sydney, Australia had made this huge mosaic of Marilyn Monroe, with like 5200 cups of coffee! It looked amazing, did you go see it? I know you like mosaics :)

  19. Hello Dunky and welcome to the forum!
  20. Hiya dearest!

I'm good, how are you? I had such fun time at the chat room I thought I'd have to consciously avoid it for a couple of days, otherwise BF might feel abandoned haha :D Yesterday was busy going bookhunting here in Lappeenranta, had a real nice day. I've also been watching Profiler, excellent show. Whatcha been up to? :)

  21. Today I bought White Butterfly by Walter Mosley A Red Death by Walter Mosley And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby by Tom Wolfe Pig Island by Mo Hayder ... and even though I bought them I sorta got them for free
  22. Okay, I'm visiting BF in Lappeenranta and there's this one really great secondhand bookshop in the town center, there's a whole bookshelf of English titles which I always go through very diligently. The place is like the icing on the cake for me, and whenever I go book shopping here I leave that place to visit the last. We went through one charityshop and two secondhand bookshops where I found nothing, and we also visited the little library in BF's part of town. That was a very good visit, I happened to find 20 euros on the ground and since nobody was there (believe me I looked, in case somebody should've just walked by and lost it) so we kind of claimed it which meant free books for me and energy drinks for me and BF. Also a bus ride home for the both of us, it's like 9 kilometers walk from the center of the town to Skinnarila where BF lives. Anyway I bought Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None at the library sale. Okay, so we're going to the last place, the best place, and I'm getting really excited and thrilled and all, and I ask BF for the time. He says it's 10 to 5 PM and my heart just sinks, because I know the secondhand bookshop closes at 5 PM Man that sucked!!! Anyways I sprinted in and browsed through the English titles and I did manage to find two titles to my liking, Mo Hayder's Pig Island and Tom Wolfe's The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby. The latter is like one of the most bizarre book titles I've ever come across with I have no idea what it is about but I had to get it because of the title and because Wolfe has also written The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test which is supposed to be good. After that we visited the big library in the town center and I got A Red Death and White Butterfly from the library sale. All in all a pretty good tour, the only thing that bothers me is that I only got 10 minutes to look at the titles in the best shop but at least I found something while I was there. The books cost me 7,5 euros total but having found that 20e note made them free
  23. I'm glad to know that your OH survived and didn't change personalitywise after the brain haemorrhage, like you said that's the most important thing The other stuff sounds difficult enough as it is and must be frustrating at times but fortunately he has his own Ooshie who takes good care of him Yep I think you should skip the Skipping Christmas book, the parents decide to skip the Chrismas because of their own reasons (nothing as drastic as yours, but something that doesn't make them feel Christmassy at all), and basically it's a load of what-was-probably-meant-to-seem-really-funny-to-the-reader complaining about neighbors who do want to celebrate and stuff. I'll never get those reading hours back. A Dog Named Christmas is a whole other story though, maybe not the literary masterpiece but like I said a feel-good novel (and there are dogs which is always a huge bonus for me ) Let's continue the quest for the hidden spoiler tag...
  24. I've forgotten, did you like the fourth one? And what do you mean, 'probably'? And, also, when's the next book ordering due?
  25. Hm, did you really get dressed in the steamy bathroom? That would definitely contribute to sweating. Echo, I hope it works out for you
