Libraries can be really devilish... I've been meaning to get back to my TBR this year, but then I go and look at the new titles at the library and always find 2-3 new books I want to read. This has been on my wishlist for a while, I hear it's good! Your review has not made me think otherwise... I should really get to reading the books!

Yeah, but it can't be helped. Also, for some reason or another, I prefer bands with male singers, and so I only have a very few bands with female singers that I like (Guano Apes and Skunk Anansie for example. Actually, no other foreign band comes to mind...)

Enjoying The Passenger more than I thought I would! Hoping to finish tomorrow.

I edited my reply so you'll see the song above Hahaha, I also listened to Rammstein this week in anticipation of June's gig

Oh, Lacuna Coil! My first boyfriend used to listen to them... There's one particular song of theirs that I liked. But they remind me of that ex so I don't like listening to them... Edit: Found it!

That's true, but at the moment I think it would be better for me to start with long walks... I think my knees might suffer should I just start jogging.

It's really difficult to say... I read whatever I wanted as a kid, and I was fine, but it's not the same for everyone. I think reading the book is better than watching the series, as with a TV series, the show is so quick and the events and things are shown in a quick succession and your daughter would not be able to pause before getting to a really horrifying scene. When you read a book, if something really horrifying happens, it's easier to quit reading while you're ahead, you know what I mean? I read far worse books before I turned 14... But it's all about the individual. Some are more sensitive than others, and some mature earlier than others. I think if you decide she can get the book, it's important that you let her know that if there's anything that might confuse her or scare her, she can always come and talk to you about it. I'm sorry I dont' have a straightforward yes or no answer for you.

Hey chalie, how are you? I was just watching an episode of Survivors, where they said 'you can't judge a book by its cover'. As I'm used to reading subtitles even though I can understand what's being said, there was the Finnish equivalent to the saying, and it made me think of you. We nowadays could also say one shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but the original Finnish equivalent would go 'Ei ole koiraa karvoihin katsominen' which literally means you shouldn't look at dog's hair [to judge him by it]. I thought this bit of info might interest you and amuse you

I'm the same, I've made many friends online. I never really made any friends at the uni, except for one, but we became real friends after she'd graduated All my uni-time friends I made on IRC or somewhere else. I can definitely relate re: living far away from the UK and not being able to meet everyone just like that, as some others have done. It's a pain, but some day...

I do miss Espoo... As to the dogs, I really don't know what breed they were. I've done a bit of googling... The first one at the hair salon looked like a Chinese crested dog but with long hair, so maybe it was a long haired Chinese crested dog, which I've just learned is called a powderpuff Chinese crested dog. I didn't know those existed! Having image googled ppCcD's, I'd say that's what the dog was Very unusual! The other one was some type of poodle. I'm very unfamiliar with different poodle types, as they are not my favorites... I knew a very annoying poodle when I was growing up. I'm a carer/assistant, so it's in my job description to go to places with Boss My Boss has celebral palsy and she's in a wheelchair, and I assist her in whatever comes up and needs doing We share the same kind of sense of humor so it's a lot of fun, most of the time. It was brilliant! Life's simple and small pleasures! Indeed! I don't get to do that as often as I'd like When it gets warmer, I'm going to start going to the near by dog park with a book.

I had a great day at work today. Boss wanted to visit the shopping mall I used to live next to when I was still living in Espoo, and we went there today. It was highly nostalgic I love the place. The first thing we did was go to the library as my Boss wanted a new library card (her old one was really old, and expired). I had a chance to browse the book swap section and found a copy of Sellevision by Augusten Burroughs! I had to get it. It was such odd luck, as I've never seen Burroughs's books lying around in book swap places, and it was so appropriate it should happen this time when I'm with Boss, as I introduced her to Burroughs and she's a big fan I also browsed the removed for sale CD collection and found two CDs by Ukkosmaine, which is a band from Joensuu that I like! How rare is that! They were only 20cnt per CD so of course I bought them both. We visited a hair salon as Boss wanted to buy some products, and there was a dog in there!! As Boss was doing her business, I went over to pet the dog, she was really friendly Awwww! Then we went to Clas Ohlson and I found a 'non-stick coated carbon steel oven pan' I've needed one for ages but all the ones I've seen in shops are pricey, but this one was cheap-ish. Wohoo! Then we went and had Chinese. I like Thai food better, I've come to realize. Oh and when I was waiting for my tram, a girl with her dog ran into a friend of hers when she was walking by me, and the dog was friendly and she came over to sniff my pants when she was done greeting the girl's friend, and I got to pet her, too On top of it all, a friend's just told me that the next season of Gogglebox will be filmed and will air in the fall!!!!! The third season just ended on TV two weeks ago and I've been so bummed, but now I know I don't have to wait a whole year for the next season! 10/10 day

I've started reading The Passenger by Lisa Lutz.

12. Chart Throb by Ben Elton Amazon: Chart Throb. The ultimate pop quest. Ninety five thousand hopefuls. Three judges. Just one winner. And that's Calvin Simms, the genius behind the show. Calvin always wins because Calvin writes the rules. But this year, as he sits smugly in judgement upon the mingers, clingers and blingers whom he has pre-selected in his carefully scripted 'search' for a star, he has no idea that the rules are changing. The 'real' is about to be put back into 'reality' television and Calvin and his fellow judges (the nation's favourite mum and the other bloke) are about to become ex-factors themselves. Thoughts: This is the third pop culture related novel I've read by Ben Elton, and I'm sad to say it's my least favorite of the three. I liked the twist that changed the season for Calvin Simms, the creator of the show, and I really liked reading about the one character that was the game changer. That person was hilarious! It was also interesting to read the behind-the-scenes stuff relating to making a reality TV show, but I have to say, going through the whole season and especially the finals, got a bit repetitive for me. I disliked the major twist in the end, but I did like one certain aspect about it. I could not read the book without seeing Simon Cowell as Calvin Simms, and Randy Jackson as Rodney Root 2/5

The copper Leuchtturm1917 arrived today in the mail! It's sooooo pretty! I also got my copy of V's book I think it will be a quick read because there's a lot of dialog, so I think I might get to it soon.

I like your consistency, Alexander My jogging's not going at all, I stopped last summer because I got stressed over having to possibly move. I never picked up jogging after that

I finally finished Chart Throb by Ben Elton. It was a semi let-down.

Oh right, I get what you mean now, about them apparently having noticed it as they'd added the semicolon. Hmm. Quite odd!
-
Maybe they hadn't noticed it themselves

@Kylie great! ☺ Ah, okay ☺

So far no negative reviews, then (If you'd like, you can have Netflix for free for one month, as a try out, and if you don't like it, you can just cancel the 'order' and be done with it after a month. Meaning you could watch the show or other Netflix shows you're interested in )

This was big during my early uni years.

No worries, bookmonkey, as long as I know that it can be fixed by simply closing the window and opening the new one That's all I need!

Cool! I've imdb'd the movie, and the younger detective I think you're talking about is Mikael Persbrandt. The lead is played by Tobias Zilliacus who's actually a Finnish actor (or Finnish Swedish, I should say) - kind of like the lead character in the book is Finnish based. Crap! Where's my right to watch BBC4!!
