  1. The one's I can recall are My Sister's Keeper, P.S I Love You, Twilight, New Moon, all of the Harry Potter series. My TBR pile is getting quite big now so I'm going to have to stop re-reading. Oh and probably most Jaqueline Wilson books when I was younger .
  2. I wasn't aware there was a new book out either Beth until I saw it in the supermarket. I can't say I enjoyed it as much as her previous books, especially the Shopaholic series. The main character Lara really wound me up sometimes I wanted to give her a good shake which put me off a bit. Still a good book and rather an enjoyable read though so I hope you get to read it sometime .
  3. I really hate that too. And when people sat behind you keep knocking the back of your chair throughout the film (this happened to me last time I went to the cinema and it drove me mad) so now I have to sit on the very back row so there's no-one behind me
  4. 51. Twenties Girl - Sophie Kinsella Synopsis from Waterstones: Lara has always had an overactive imagination. Now she wonders if she is losing her mind. Normal twenty-something girls just don't get visited by ghosts! But inexplicably, the spirit of Lara's great aunt Sadie - in the form of a bold, demanding Charleston-dancing girl - has appeared to make one last request: Lara must track down a missing necklace Sadie simply can't rest without. Lara's got enough problems of her own. Her start-up company is floundering, her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, and she's just been dumped by the love of her life. 5. The thing about lying to your parents is, you have to do it to protect them. Twenties Girl - Sophie Kinsella
  6. 50. Saving Grace - Ciara Geraghty Synopsis from Waterstones: When Grace O'Brien wakes up next to Bernard-from-IT, she blames the out-of-date bottle of Baileys for making her cheat on her boyfriend of one year, nine months, three weeks and six days. But then she finds she can't get Bernard - geeky dress sense, red hair and all - out of her mind. It gets worse when Grace's best friend falls in love with a blind date - Bernard. Somehow Grace can't help feeling that she's to blame for all this mess. She usually is, after all ... Started: 11th July Finished: 13th July 440 pages Rating: 8/10

  8. I hate that one too. It's so awful I can't even watch it and the noise when he slaps her is so loud it makes me cringe.
  9. Rosti's and vegetarian "chicken" nuggets with loads of sour cream and chive dip.
  10. 49. Falling For You - Jill Mansell Synopsis from Waterstones: Maddy Harvey was a bit of an ugly duckling as a teenager, what with her NHS specs, unfortunate hair and wonky teeth. Thankfully she's blossomed since then. But when she meets Kerr McKinnon one starry summer's night and discovers, days later, who he actually is...well, that's when the problems really start. Because everyone in Ashcombe knows what happened eleven years ago, and as far as her mother's concerned, Marcella would rather tear that family to pieces with her bare hands than see Maddy associate with a McKinnon. It's Romeo and Juliet all over again. Quick, hide those sharp knives and that little bottle of poison... Started: 8th July Finished: 10th July 438 pages Rating: 7/10
  11. I actually enjoy Philippa Gregory's books considering I'm not into history stuff but I was surprised I did enjoy them. I hope you guys like them. I know, I'm such a loser lol. Since uni finished I've had loads of spare time since there's no essays and book lists to get through .
  12. Thanks Dan. I'm glad it's all over now but no doubt I'll be missing it all soon .

  14. 48. The Constant Princess - Philippa Gregory Synopsis from Waterstones: Splendid and sumptuous historical novel from this internationally bestselling author, telling of the early life of Katherine of Aragon. We think of her as the barren wife of a notorious king; but behind this legacy lies a fascinating story. Katherine of Aragon is born Catalina, the Spanish Infanta, to parents who are both rulers and warriors. Aged four, she is betrothed to Arthur, Prince of Wales, and is raised to be Queen of England. She is never in doubt that it is her destiny to rule that far-off, wet, cold land. Her faith is tested when her prospective father-in-law greets her arrival in her new country with a great insult; Arthur seems little better than a boy; the food is strange and the customs coarse. Slowly she adapts to the first Tudor court, and life as Arthur's wife grows ever more bearable. But when the studious young man dies, she is left to make her own future: how can she now be queen, and found a dynasty? Only by marrying Arthur's young brother, the sunny but spoilt Henry. His father and grandmother are against it; her powerful parents prove little use. Yet Katherine is her mother's daughter and her fighting spirit is strong. She will do anything to achieve her aim; even if it means telling the greatest lie, and holding to it. Philippa Gregory proves yet again that behind the apparently familiar face of history lies an astonishing story: of women warriors influencing the future of Europe, of revered heroes making deep mistakes, and of an untold love story which changes the fate of a nation. 18. Been reading more than you could have imagined? Or has your mojo deserted you? So far I've read 47 books which is two less than my total of books read last year. There has been a couple of times where I have lost interest in reading or ended up abandoning a book halfway through. Found any new favourites? Been disappointed by others? The Time Traveler's Wife, Noughts and Crosses trilogy, Handle With Care, Chocolat. Also new authors I have found: Alexandra Potter, Minette Walters, Mitch Albom. The only book I've read so far I didn't enjoy was (and don't kick me off for saying this ) The Picture Of Dorian Gray . Been sticking to your reading challenges? Or pushed them to the side in the name of being spontaneous? The only challenge I set myself this year was to read 50 books, which I have almost reached. I would like to possibly achieve 100 but I'm not too confident I can reach that target yet so I may try and aim for 75. Bought more books than you've read? (Please tell me I'm not alone in this!) Yes!! I can't buy just one book at a time. The least I have bought is 2 and 6 at the most (not a lot actually). So many that I now have two bookcases that are full and no more room (unless I start piling them up on my desk ). Been spending too much time at BCF when you could otherwise be making inroads into your TBR pile? And if so, are you going to do anything about it? (Let me guess...'Yes' and 'No', right? ) Not really. Some days I just spend the day reading and trying to avoid going online too much. Also the heat from my laptop is shocking, especially in this weather so that encourages me to turn it off and read. And finally, where do you hope your reading will take you in the next 6 months? Hopefully I can reduce my TBR pile which has reached about 80+ so I'm hoping to reduce that and try not to buy too many books. I hope I can manage to read about 75 books this year - if I'm lucky.

  24. 45. Dear Fatty - Dawn French Synopsis from Waterstones: Dawn French is one of the greatest comedy actresses of our time, with a career that has spanned nearly three decades, encompassing a vast and brilliant array of characters. Loved for her irreverent humour, Dawn has achieved massive mainstream success while continuing to push boundaries and challenge stereotypes. Here she describes the journey that would eventually establish her as a perhaps unlikely, but nevertheless genuine, national treasure. Dawn began her career as part of the groundbreaking alternative comedy group, the Comic Strip, marking a radical departure from the more traditional comedy acts of the time. Later came the all-female Girls On Top, which teamed Dawn with Jennifer Saunders, Ruby Wax and Tracy Ullman and firmly established women in British comedy. As part of the wildly successful and much loved duo French and Saunders, Dawn helped create a repertoire of brilliantly observed characters, parodying popular culture and impersonating everything from "Madonna" and "Harry Potter" to "The Exorcist". Dawn's more recent role in the "Vicar of Dibley" showcased not only her talent but also her ability to take a controversial and topical issue and make it mainstream - and very funny. From her early years as an RAF child and her flat-sharing antics with Jennifer Saunders, to her outspoken views on sizism and her marriage to Lenny Henry, "Dear Fatty" will chronicle the extraordinary, hilarious rise of a complex, dynamic and unstoppable woman.
