  1. We walked past there on our way to lunch today - the sign has been taken down. Have they found someone already then, or does it just mean they have enough applicants I wonder ?
  2. Lets hope my experiences then are different.
  3. A few days ago, I had the strangest feeling that I should go to my local Waterstones at lunch time. When I got there what did I see - a sign in the window - full time book seller wanted ! I filled the form in and got my partner to take it back for me yesterday. Fingers crossed then that I will hear from them soon !
  4. The first thing that attracts me is the name, because usually when you just see a row of spines, that is all you can see. I then look at the cover, and read the blurb, and then if I like the sound of it, then I will flick through the pages and read a bit of it, and if I like the writers style, then I will buy it. With non fiction, I often look things up in the index to check what information it contains as well.
  5. Couldn't be bothered to cook either, so went to the Friday night chip van ! Smoked haddock fish cake, chips, onion rings and mushy peas
  6. Pasta with dolmio sauce, salad and coleslaw
  7. egg, chips and peas.
  8. feta cheese salad
  9. roasted red pepper humous with rice cakes and a large salad.
  10. home made stir fry - basmati rice with baby corn, carrots, mange tout and onion with black bean sauce.
  11. I never buy what most people would define as women's magazines, as like others have said, they are full of ads and articles on fashion, beauty products etc that I am just not interested in. I do read though several spiritual magazines - Paradigm Shift, More 2 Life and Kindred Spirit, and also writing ones - Writing and Writers News, and of course The Bookseller online (can't afford the paper edition, as it costs around £5 a week). As for the celebrity stuff - it bores me to tears, and I just don't see the point. I am too busy enjoying my own life to worry about other people's anyway !
  12. Birthday: June 21, 1965 Age: Just gone 43 Starsign: Cancer, by about 2 hours Single/Married/Other? living with partner Children? No Where do you live? Box Hill, Surrey (the picnic scene for Jane Austen's Emma was set here, and she was a regular visitor, so I am told). Do you work? Yes, four days a week in retail. I am also a self published author. Favourite author? I read more non fiction than anything else, and particularly enjoy the works of Graham Philips How did you get here? Can't honestly remember, I think I may have clicked on a google ad somewhere.
  13. I think I have bought around 6 maybe all year - but I have also been sent copies by self published friends that I exchanged my own book for, and borrow quite a lot from the library as well. I also tend to re-read a lot of the books that I do have, especially non-fiction, more than once. Have just won
  14. From an authors point of view, I would love to work in a book shop or a library or even as a a journalist. I did consider journalism as a career when I was at school, but did not have the confidence and couldn't get to grips with shorthand. Not many people use it these days though, and 25 years on, I am a lot more confident than I was at school! I did see an ad for a trainee reporters job, which I may have considered had I been single, but it meant a 6 month residential course in Newcastle, at the other end of the country. I content myself then with being an amateur journalist, as Editor of my village newsletter. There is a chance that the store I work in will be closing soon, so I am keeping an eye open for that book shop or library job !
  15. Okay, 5 facts about me: 1) I was born on June 21st, which is how I got my name 2) I live in a mobile home with my partner of 11 years, a cross dressing man. 3) I am afraid of dogs 4) I love wild, rugged places and disappear on my own to a small island in the Bristol Channel two to three times a year. 5) I am a vegetarian who is also wheat intolerant. A nightmare when eating out !
  16. Just seen your note on my page - I am from Box Hill, near Dorking in Surrey - not that far from you in Brighton.

  17. Thanks for your friendship request Kate, I am honoured to accept !

  18. Thanks for being my friend - it seems that as we are both authors we have a lot to learn from each other and share !

  19. Thank you Tiger, Lundy was lovely, mixed weather, some rain, fog, lots of sun and wind and some spectacular sunsets. Sailing back yesterday was Rough though with a capital R - took 7 hours as we had to wait in Clovelly for the tide to change. Worth it though for those 2 weeks ....

  20. I have quite a few, nearly all non fiction: Lawrence Gardner: Bloodline of the Holy Grail Graham Philips: The Chalice of Magdalene# Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince: Templar Conspiracy Andrew Collins: Tutankhamun Conspiracy Joshua Shapiro: Mystery of the Crystal Skulls Tracy Saunders: Pilgrimage to Heresy (Tracy is a friend of mine) various others. Would have to go through my book shelves to find them all. Mostly they are from meeting the authors at talks, conferences etc.
  21. Cheese omelette with chips, salad and onion rings.
  22. Welcome aboard Bronwen - I have just back from holiday so didn't see your message until today. I am also a writer though - and author of one non fiction (mind, body and spirit/religion) book which I published through print on demand.
  23. Thanks for your friendship request Kylie and sorry I didn't reply sooner. It came in the day I went on holiday for 2 weeks ! Back now though and had a a wonderful time as always.

  24. Wow, what a lot of birthday messages. I didn't realise I was that popular ! I did have a lovely birthday though - sailing off to my favourite place - Lundy of course (where else). I got back earlier today, and so have a mountain of washing, post and emails to sort through - the usual thing ...

  25. Thanks for your message Tiger, will be back on July 6th.
