  1. Same here with Wuthering Heights, first time I tried to read it I couldn't stand it but the second time I absolutely loved it!
  2. I did that for ages too but then found it in the library so was happy! I will most definitely let you know what I think when I finish. At the moment I am enjoying it but think I have guessed something that might happen so am intrigued to see if I am right!
  3. I love The Stand, it is one of my all time favourite books. I haven't read it again for a couple of years though so I think I need to find a new copy!
  4. These are most of the books I have read since April 2007, I didn't keep a good enough record before then and often kick myself over that fact! The Hapless Teachers Handbook by Phil Ball A Friend Like Henry by Nuala Gardner No Plot? No Problem by Chris Baty When We Were Orphans by Kazuo Ishiguro Enduring Love by Ian McEwan Song of Susannah by Stephen King The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall The Heart of the Dale by Gervase Phinn The Sound of Laughter by Peter Kay Twelve Sharp by Janet Evanovich Love and Devotion by Erica James Hidden Talents by Erica James Various childrens books- didn't write their names down The Road by Cormac McCarthy A Murder is Announced by Agatha Christie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling Spelling Mississippi by Marnie Woodrow The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson Q and A by Vikas Swarup Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Black Swan Green by David Mitchell To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Four Play by Fiona Walker The Abortionist's Daughter by Elisabeth Hyde So Many Books, So little Time by Sara Nelson The Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmeier English Correspondence by Janet Davey The Girls by Lori Lansens Half of a Yellow Sun What are other people's thoughts on these books? I am trying to choose a favourite, or even a top ten but am useless at that!
  5. Thanks all! I am really loving being back and reading through all the threads!
  6. I have just started this book but have been very good and not read everyones thoughts. I look forward to finishing and sharing with you all!
  7. I really loved it although I thought the end was a little too neat:) However it inspired my plot idea for this years NaNoWriMo! I must read some more of his.
  8. I quite often leave without a book, not because I am being good but because I just can't choose what to buy!
  9. Thank so much! Close the book journals and I will just start afresh:) You are a shiny bright star and I hope it didn't cause too much trouble xx
  10. Thanks angerball, love the pic!
  11. I just had a play around and I found it and got them emailed to myself0 book_kelly I was. Is it possible for them to be merged as I like a.book.in.the.life as it matches my blog and my name on some other sites! By the way thanks for the offer!
  12. Hi all, great to find you all again. I used to be a member ages ago but cannot remember any of my details lol! So I have signed up all shiny and brand new and am looking forward forward to reading through the forums, picking up some new ideas for my wish list and getting to know some like minded people:)
  13. I am now reading The Virgin's Lover by Philippa Gregory. It has reawakened the historian and me and I want to go back and research early modern history again. I like it when a book does that:)
  14. You are good Janet, I normally always click on the spoiler even if I know I will be reading the book soon!
  15. Anybody out There by Marian Keyes- finished 4th February 2007 Well last night I finished Anybody out there by Marian Keyes. I really enjoy Marian Keyes but this book left me feeling so unsettled I was relieved to finish it. If you havent read it and dont want to know then I better put the next bit in spoliers (if I can do it!) I guess it really made me assess my life which is good I suppose. I am lucky to have a man I adore and will marry and spend the rest of my life with and I really want to make sure I make all moments worthwhile. But back to the book! It carries on with the Walsh family so it is nice to have some familiar faces in it with all the light relief they bring with it (Helen gets into some great scrapes!) All in all I enjoyed this and have lent it to a friend because she apparently loves Keyes as well!
  16. I am reading Anybody out there and finding it a really sad one, I have read all the others but this is making me feel quite low.
  17. Go for it, although it is very addictive!
  18. I used to be a really active member and am actually planning to release some books tomorrow, will be the first time in ages! My name on there is rainbowandrain and I need to update my bookshelf!
  19. Wow that is really difficult, I cannot think of a favourite character off the top of my head although I know I have because I remember reading books and hating when they ended and I would have to leave the characters. Um..hmm you have got me thinking, I will be back!
  20. I use anything that is laying on my desk, post its, receipts, torn bits of scrap paper, take away menus- I am not fussy!
  21. What a good idea, now I need to have the energy to put all my books in there! Thanks for the heads up about it.
