I've read the books and enjoyed them all although I found the last one not so origninal and dragged on a bit- I havent seen any of this series but have heard its really good - i will have to get it when it comes out on dvd
  2. It was one of those books that at first I didnt think I'd be able to get into it- but am so glad I did- it really does transport you back in time to one which was very different to our own time but not really that long ago - how times have changed for women in particular. There is a great twist at the end it doesnt disappoint.
  3. I did think Lucinda's team would win
  4. I didnt actuallt enjoy it that much last night - dont think it showed the people of Coventry in a good light! - how awful when that bloke was sick dreadful

  8. Am about 3/4ths through now and have revised my early judgement - I am enjoying it - it is keeping me reading and I like the fact that the characters are slowly revealed by Sebold - you form one opinion and find that changing as you learn further facts about them - I really dont know whether to hate or feel sympathy for most of them:roll: but I do think its very well written.
  9. I read it as though he had actually committed the murders - I do recall throwing this book down in disgust at one point as I thought it was truely horrific in some descriptions:irked:
  10. Re Great Expectations - that actually put me off the book at first - I dont like Great Expectations and thought that it would be too boring! but it doesnt take away anything from Mister Pip for me.

  14. I read this book in a day- it was impossible to put it down I was sceptical at first as I had flicked to the back and seen that the author was a white middle aged man so wasnt sure that he would sound authentic as the voice of a young black girl- but he excelled himself- I had no difficulty in believing the voice of the narrator- or for that matter picturing the sights, smells and hearing the sounds of the island. It really is a book that transports you to another time and place. I also cried several times, it really moved me.
