    Hello

Welcome to the forum Bright eyes!
  6. Yes, usually about 10 pages, but with Discworld books, about 20 (always making sure I stop at an appropriate break).
  7. No offence taken Mia - I think it probably is a mild form of OCD. Most of my life is lived in very straight lines - if I break from my routines I end up not knowing what I'm doing! I also enjoy reading a set chapter and then mulling it over for the next 24 hours (yes, I have set reading times too!) As for Terry Pratchett - do you have clairvoyant powers, or have you been peering through our window? I have a whole shelf of Discworld books!
  8. I read in a very structured way - just one chapter a day, regardless of length. I occasionally come across chapters that are only 4 or 5 lines long, so I barely have time to sit down! If I'm reading a book without rigid chapters, I generally set myself a limit of 10 pages. If I break this routine I get quite anxious. I see a lot of people here read several books per week - does anybody else have my problem, or am I in need of help?
  9. Pretty good. I'm about two thirds of the way through, and the story is holding up well. It's taking a while, as I have a very structured way of reading - one chapter a day, no matter how long or short. Indeed, one of the earlier chapters in HSB was only 4 lines long, so I barely had time to sit down! I get quite anxious if I break my routine!
  10. Thanks for the warning Os. I'm not very far into it at the moment and a lot seems to be happening very quickly. I did wonder if the story could be sustained through the rest of the book.
  11. Don't fight it Adam, just let it take you!
  12. True, it is an addiction, but I don't want to be cured!
  13. Heart-Shaped Box is turning out better than I'd hoped. The whole atmosphere is reminiscent of early SK. There's a genuine eeriness which has been missing in a lot of King Senior's books.
  14. Welcome Deirdre - you can't help but have a great time here!
  15. Thanks for reminding me of Insomnia chicken - I read it about 10 years ago in a bit of a rush. I'll have to dust it off and have another go.
  16. Was anybody impressed by Cell? I thought it was a great idea, started promisingly, but then crumbled about a third of the way through.
  17. Not at all sad chicken! I have several shelves full of Stephen King and I agree that The Stand is easily his best work. If you like that, then I'd also recommend reading 'It'.
  18. Does anybody know if Heston Blumenthal has a book to accompany his current series?

    Hello

    Miguel!
  21. I mostly crave chocolate, which is a small problem as I'm diabetic! Another favourite is any cold meat, particularly chicken.
  22. I'm a bit slow off the mark, but welcome to the forum - hope you're having a great time!
  23. And another welcome from me!
