We recently bought a chest coffee table, which I filled with books. Then the other day, I looked under the table for something, and the bottom of it has broken and is bulging outwards.
So, I've had to move a whole lot of them out and into a plastic storage tub which is sitting in our (tiny) lounge room. -
I've found a few errors, but none that I can specifically remember off-hand. I do find them irritating, as I'm sure books are proof-read by more than one person. If I pick them up on the first read, then surely someone who does that for a living must be able to.

I'm not keen on short stories, though I have read a few Stephen King ones. Those weren't too short, though. My book for the Penguin read is a collection of short stories by RK Narayan (I'm sure I've spelt that wrong
). The problem with those is that some of the stories are literally 3 pages long, and I just don't see the point of them. I need something that I can get involved in, with a plot of decent length and lots of things happening. -
^The Pillars of the Earth is a fanstastic read. I hope you enjoy it.

I've yet to read Guns, Germs and Steel, or Collapse, though I own both. I did enjoy The Rise and Fall of the Third Chimpanzee; have you read that one?

I usually give them a few chances, unless they are truly terrible. I've given Dean Koontz countless chances, but I've pretty much given up on him now. I do still pick up his books though, and read the blurb on the back.

I'd go for The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. It's a very funny read.

Nici - try here. A lot of people are having this problem.
Someone suggested the following:
"Depending on your version place any 32 or 64 bit VISTA dvd in your computer and reboot it.
Boot from the DVD ROM
Select restore from a previous restore point
The first two restore points available to me failed. i had to go back 3 days before i found one that worked for me.
After that, manually attempt to download and install the update that was giving you issue. i simply disabled automatic updates until i can find out more about why this even happened."
I haven't read the rest, but there's 7 pages on there - hopefully someone will have the solution.

I've started getting into bringing Tuna Light Lunches (the John West meals) into work. They're quite decent, and filling. Probably healthier than white bread (which is what I usually have).

I attempted this one last year, and just couldn't stick with it. From the blurb on the back I thought it would be an excellent thriller, but it just seemed to go off on these odd tangents, too much for my liking.
