  1. Yes there is, Sally the sister has a section. Thanks - I may well do that.
  2. Beginning to struggle with Eleven Terrible Months now. I am on Chris's story and I have two problems: 1) I'm not getting on with the style of Chris's voice - it's a bit rambling and while all the little asides do reveal his character, it's at the expense of the story telling. This section could do with a bit of editing IMO. The bit where he starts to explain how to use commas because he's just found out himself annoyed me a lot. Just what was the point of it? 2) I've already read and know the story, because part one, Sue's account takes you up to the end of the time-line. Chris's story is just a different viewpoint, with a few differences in some of the events. I find myself wondering why I need to go on reading. We shall see ...

    Merlin

I thought it was OK, a bit mediocre. I was expecting great things because of the cast, but I think I got my hopes up too much.
  5. Hi and welcome. Nice to meet you
  6. Hi and welcome. Nice to meet you
  7. Oh so glad you are enjoying Jane Eyre. I loved that book. Hope a whole new world is opening up for you Nici
  8. Finished Five Little Pigs last night. It was a good ending. I thought I'd guessed but I was wrong. The book was a little slow, but overall enjoyable. Would def like to read more Agatha Christie. Now back to Eleven Terrible Months which was put on hold because it was too bulky to go in my hand luggage last weekend
  9. Hi and welcome
  10. Sounds great - adding to wish list
  11. I caught up last night, watching episodes 2 and 3 back to back. Arggh how aggravating. I also thought it got very far-fetched with each character becoming more and more unpleasant so that they just became less beleivable for me. That's exactly what I shouted at the telly when the credits rolled up! They should have at least showed her doing it in the same way they showed the others hypothetically doing it. Very disappointing. Does that need a spoiler supergran?
  12. Thanks
  13. That's fantastic! Where is that Beef?
  14. Hi and welcome
  15. Thanks Sam It's annoying though because I have ideas for books in about 4 different genres. I think I'll have to reign myself in somewhere.
  16. Quite eclectic I think. I have a lot of classics, ranging from Jane Austen to Bram Stoker, some Stephen King and Dean Koontz as well as a bit of chick lit (not much though) and some (mostly unread) crime, fantasy and sci fi and some mainstream fiction. Also lots of non-fiction, science, theological, travel, politics and biography and lots of books on writing and English. I have a little bit of lots of different genres without any one really dominating the shelves. Perhaps my largest genre is the classics - but even in there there's a bit of Poe, a bit of Shakespeare, all different stuff. No romance in sight though.

  20. Hi and welcome. Hope you're having fun on your working holiday.
  21. If anybody wants a free copy I've offered it up as a book chain book here
  22. No it's in Greece actually. Yes sipping cold drinks in hot countries is great!

  23. Ooh how exciting. No I didn't know that was Ian Rankin. I read one of his books last year actually, Knots and Crosses. I thought it was pretty good. I've never been to a book signing. If it's a conversation does that mean it's an audience Q&A session?

  24. Hi Alison. I'm very well thanks. How are you?

  25. About A Boy is his best novel IMO (of the four I've read, I'm not sure how many he's written) there are a few differences to the film though. His other two I thought were quite weak (A Long Way Down and How to be Good)
