I thought she was great in 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' too
-
Aw that is so cute hen, ask your vet about feathers (I know you would anyway, I don't mean to sound patronising), Quinn is not a lap cat at all, Dylan just sleeps where he lands on you
-
Hi Kylie, how are you? I'm not sure about feathers, I vaguely remember Dylan having a toy like that and he didn't bother with it but all cats are different, I don't think they do any harm (but don't quote me), its the same with all toys, keeping an eye on them, you are doing all the right things hen, you are a great mummy to Jasper (oh I forgot to say, I hear ya about their claws being clipped, what a difference it makes)
-
I'm glad everything went well at the vet for Jasper, you are a great Mummy hen He needed a wee sleep after his jag, both of my cats were the same, I hope that helps.
-
Looking forward to reading your thoughts, I have read 'The Turn of the Screw', which is very creepy
-
I still have to catch up, I am determined to do so
-
Sounds a fantastic read poppy, do you think you will read some Henry James's fiction?
-
Fay is coming leaps and bounds, its great to see Univerze, Jamie and Fay are gorgeous (I just love cats!), yeah Quinn sounds like Jamie, she has loads of toys but would rather play with plastics bags and pieces of paper! she is such a funny wee bundle, Dylan just looks at her in total bemusement
-
Sorry for boring you all with my cats, its the Quinn (aka 'Her Ladyship' ) ~ ^Having a wee nap last night ^Deciding that plastic bags are fun to sit in
-
What a gorgeous photo of you both
-
Hi Kat, how are you? I am really pleased too to see you are enjoying the sookie books and Kelley Armstrong, they are great reads, your review of 'Sister' makes me want to read it as soon as possible, I bought it a few weeks ago Happy reading hen

Such sad news ~ Screen icon Dame Elizabeth Taylor dies Dame Elizabeth Taylor, one of the 20th Century's biggest movie stars, has died in Los Angeles at the age of 79. The double Oscar-winning actress had a long history of ill health and was being treated for symptoms of congestive heart failure. Dame Elizabeth's most famous films included National Velvet, Cleopatra and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She was equally well-known for her glamour and film partnership with Richard Burton, one of seven husbands. In her prime, she was arguably one of the world's greatest actresses and most beautiful women. Her colourful private life, screen success and Aids charity work ensured she was never far from the spotlight since finding fame at the age of 12. The peak of her film career came in the 1950s and 1960s, with four Oscar nominations in a row from 1958 to 1961. She lost out in her first three attempts - for Raintree County, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Suddenly, Last Summer - but triumphed at her fourth attempt with Butterfield 8. Her second Oscar came in 1967 for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, one of 12 films with Burton. She met the actor while filming 1963's Cleopatra - which became notorious as one of the most expensive films of all time, but which also sparked one of Hollywood's greatest romances. She won two Academy Awards over the course of her career. Taylor had already been married four times - to Conrad Hilton, Michael Wilding, Michael Todd and Eddie Fisher - before she wed Burton in 1964. Their tempestuous relationship saw them divorce and remarry in 1975 before she moved on to further marriages with John W Warner and Larry Fortensky. Her health problems began with a fall while filming her first hit film, National Velvet, which led to a lifetime of back problems. A rare strain of pneumonia almost killed her in 1961 and she also battled addictions to alcohol and painkillers. In the 1990s, she endured two hip replacement operations and another near-fatal bout of pneumonia and survived surgery for a benign brain tumour in 1997. In 2004, it was revealed that she was suffering from congestive heart failure, with symptoms including fatigue and shortness of breath, and scoliosis, which twisted her spine. But she continued to campaign for her Aids charity, which she set up in 1991 after the death of her friend and co-star Rock Hudson. Source ~ BBC Entertainment

Hi Christie, how are you? I finished 'Matched' this morning and I enjoyed it, here is my review ~ The Story ~ 'Matched' is the story of Cassia Reyes, a 17 year old girl who lives in a unknown dystopian society where everything is decided by The Officials, where you live, where you work, who you will marry and when you will die, which has been accepted by society because they have never experienced anything else, everything is as it should be. 'Matched' begins with the Matching ceremony, an occasion that Cassia and her lifelong friend, Xander Carrow and other 17 year old teenagers have been looking forward to, the matching ceremony will decide who you should be matched to and be married to by the age of 21, there is an system to the matching, the matches are in alphabetical order according to the girl's surnames, as the girl watches the screen in the banqueting hall, a boy appears, they have found their match. Cassia's match turns out to a shock to Cassia and her family because it has never occurred before, Cassie has been matched to her best friend, Xander, which Xander and Cassia are happy about and look forward to their future together but as Cassia soon finds out, her life cannot be mapped out so easily, when she finds herself falling in love with Ky Markham, a quiet boy from her neighbourhood, he is more aware of the world around him that Cassia realises and the more time Cassia spends with Ky, the more she learns that she does not live in such a perfect society. What I thought of 'Matched' ~ As some of you know I am a big fan of the dystopia genre and 'Matched' for me definitely covers what I like to see in a dystopia novel, there are strong characters, Cassia is a wonderfully written character, I love how you saw her change as the book progressed, it shows the changes a teenager goes through with the additional bonus of Cassia living in a so called perfect society. Ky, the boy Cassia falls in love with, is a great character, very unassuming but a major influence on Cassia, Xander, the boy who Cassia is matched is a surprising character, well for me, he was, excellent to read. A well written, interesting book to start a series with, I have high hopes for the next two books in the trilogy, the second book 'Crossed' is due for release on the 1st November this year. Rating ~ 10/10

True Grit by Charles Portis ~ Started: 14.03.11 ~ Finished: 17.03.11 Synopsis ~ On a trip to buy ponies, Frank Ross is shot dead by Tom Chaney, one of his own workers, for a horse, $150 cash, and two Californian gold pieces. When Ross's unusually single~minded fourteen year old daughter Mattie arrives to claim his body, she discovers that the authorities are doing nothing to find Chaney. Then she hears of Rooster ~ a man, she's told, who has grit ~ and convinces him to join her in a quest into dark, dangerous Indian territory to hunt Chaney down and avenge her father's murder... The Story ~ “They tell me you are a man with true grit.” And so begins Mattie Ross's companionship with Marshall Reuben J. Cogburn, known as 'Rooster Cogburn, and their trek into Indian territory to search for Tom Chaney, the man who murdered Mattie's father, Frank in cold blood. Rooster known for his rough ways, is the man that Mattie believes will do right by her, and despite being just fourteen years old, Mattie is more than a match for Rooster, despite his efforts, he cannot get rid of Mattie, she is determined to catch Tom Chaney. What I thought of 'True Grit' ~ 'True Grit' told by Mattie Ross is a joy to read, Mattie's forthright nature and single mindedness shines through, she is 14 years old and is ready to face anything and anyone. I loved the dialogue between Rooster, Mattie and LaBeouf, an Texan ranger, who is also on the trail of Tom Chaney, their relationship develops as the story progresses, initially Rooster and LaBeouf see Mattie as hindrance and Mattie proves her worth. I enjoyed Mattie's individual look of the world, she takes everything in her stride, and despite the violence of the west and what she witnesses, she is more interested in the practicalities of every day life and she shares her thoughts on a regular basis, she is such an old soul. 'True Grit' is a truly great book, from Charles Port's description of America in1800's to Mattie Ross and Rooster Cogburn, both unforgettable characters, its definitely a book you will read again and again, in fact at the moment, I am re~reading it. Rating ~ 10/10 ****** Matched by Ally Condie ~ Started: 17.03.11 ~ Finished: 22.03.11 Synopsis ~ On her seventeenth birthday, Cassia meets her Match. Society dictates he is her perfect partner for life. Except he’s not. In Cassia’s society, Officials decide who people love. How many children they have. Where they work. When they die. But, as Cassia finds herself falling in love with another boy, she is determined to make some choices of her own.
