  1. I will need to watch it on Wednesday as well, I always thought about the Richard and Judy book club but never got around to it, I read 'The Kite Runner' when I caught one show...
  2. Will do PDR, So far, so good with 'The Girls', I know its only February but this is the best book I have read so far this year, the way it is written, the story is just excellent and I am looking forward to sharing my review with you all.
  3. Well that is good news Bagpuss, hate to think you were missing out xxxx
  4. Finally a date! Its been too long a wait! Bagpuss can't someone pick it up for you when you are working?
  5. Wow PDR, what a review, wonderfully written, 'Wicked' sounds really good x
  6. My favourites characters are... Roland Deschain from The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King: I think he is such a complicated character, everything is about the Tower, and you learn why when you read the series. John Mischief from Abarat (the first book) by Clive Barker: John Mischief has seven brothers but they are a single body, John Mischief has the actual body and his brothers, John Fillet, John Sallow, John Moot, John Drowze, John Pluckitt, John Serpent and John Slop grew on the antlers on John Mischief's head, they all have very different personalities which makes interesting reading. Rae Seddon from Sunshine by Robin McKinley: Another wonderful character, I really liked Rae, I hope Robin McKinley writes more books with Rae in them. Jack Crabb from Little Big Man and The Return of Little Big Man by Thomas Berger: Jack Crabb is a brilliant character, I actually felt sad leaving him when I got to the end of 'The Return of Little Big Man'.
  7. Started reading 'The Girls' by Lori Lansens today

  11. Title of book: Shopaholic & Baby Name of author: Sophie Kinsella ISBN Number: 0593053877 The blurb: Becky's life is blooming! She's working at London's newest fashion store, The Look, house-hunting with husband Luke (her secret wish is a Shoe Room)...and she's pregnant! She couldn't be more overjoyed - especially since discovering that shopping cures morning sickness. Everything has got to be perfect for her baby: from the designer nursery...to the latest, coolest pram...to the celebrity, must-have obstetrician. But when the celebrity obstetrician turns out to be her husband Luke's glamorous, intellectual ex-girlfriend, Becky's perfect world starts to crumble. She's shopping for two...but are there three in her marriage? What can I say?, I have read all of the shopaholic series now and the rest of Sophie Kinsella's books ('Can you keep a secret' and 'The Undomestic Goddess') and I have enjoyed them all, but 'Shopaholic and Baby' is the best by far. Welcome to Becky Brandon's (nee Bloomwood) world, the unforgettable shopaholic who sees everything with a silver lining, you can not help but love Becky, she spends money professionally and has a reason behind every one of her purchases such as Christian Dior baby bottles, etc. There is so many funny moments in this book As I said this is the best book of the shopaholic series, so read it as soon as you get the chance, you will not regret it. Rating: 10/10
  12. I finished 'Shopaholic & Baby' this morning. It was good, review to follow.. I am now starting 'Keeping Faith' by Jodi Picoult.
  13. I finally finished 'Nocturnes' by John Connolly, it was really good, review now completed and posted.
  14. Title of book: Nocturnes Name of author: John Connolly ISBN Number: 0340897333 The blurb: John Connolly, bestselling author of five brilliantly scary mystery novels, now turns his pen to the short story to give us a dozen, chilling tales of the supernatural. In this macabre collection, inspired by masters of the genre from M.R. James to Stephen King, Connolly delves into our darkest fears - lost lovers, missing children, subterranean creatures and predatory demons. Framing the collection are two substantial novellas: The Cancer Cowboy Rides charts the fatal progress of a modern-day grim reaper, while The Reflecting Eye is a haunted house tale with a twist and marks the return of private detecive Charlie Parker, the troubled hero of Connolly's crime novels. 'Nocturnes' is a great collection of horror stories with a twist, from the first story, 'The Cancer Cowboy Rides' you are drawn into a macabre world where anything can happen. My favourite stories were 'The Cancer Cowboy Rides','The New Daughter', 'The Furnace Room', 'Some children wander by mistake' and 'Miss Froom, Vampire'. The best story in the book is actually a novella with the main character, Charlie Parker, from a series of books by the author, I think I will be reading the Charlie Parker books, because he is a great character. If you enjoy a different kind of horror, you will enjoy 'Nocturnes'. Rating: 8/10
