  9. I think it could quite easily be Australia too, our rural folk are similar. Have you heard of Fred Dagg? NZ comedian and satirist John Clarke created him. He's lived in Aussie now since 1979. He portrayed a stereotypical Kiwi farmer, the humour which I'm sure Aussies would 'get' and relate to, as well.
  10. War Brides by Helen Bryan I just love books set during the World Wars, particularly ones about everyday people dealing with the hardships and stresses they had to endure. Once I started reading this, I didn't want to stop. It's not the best written book and I felt the gap between WWII and the modern day could have been filled in more, but even so I thoroughly enjoyed it. An enjoyable light read. **

  12. The scenes of devastation are truly shocking. My heart goes out to all those poor people. Latest death toll sounds like it's going to be 10,000. It's unbelievable the destruction they've suffered. Now it's heading for Vietnam, I so hope and pray it's ferocity starts to lessen.
  13. I'm with Pont on this, 4 or 5 pounds isn't a big deal. Have a lovely time
