    My Town

Wow, that's very thorough!! I was born in Birkenhead and lived in Bromborough until I was 19 when my Mum got remarried and we all moved here to Wales. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I have very happy memories of my childhood in Bromborough.
  3. Are you enjoying it? I got mine on RISI when someone requested a swap from me. I'd never heard of it before but it sounded interesting.
  4. I've always wanted to read about Gene Kelly because I wonder if he was as nice in person as he seemed on screen. You are so lucky that you got to meet him, that must have been quite a moment.
  5. Finished Undead and Unreturnable last night. Even though it is about vampires it's actually a very light read and I really enjoyed it. Thought I would try Bitten next so hopefully I will get this started today.
  6. I think I'm going to read Bitten next. I'm waiting to see if I enjoy it before I get any others from the series. It's not a book I'd heard of before but I did buy it on your recommendation so I've got high hopes for it!!

  10. Thanks for the help! Can't wait to get started except the book I've just started is 700 pages long so it might be a while!
  11. I have just got The Eyre Affair and wanted to ask if it is worth reading Jane Eyre first. I have never read it (I know, I should be ashamed!) and wondered if reading that first would make me enjoy The Eyre Affair more. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
  12. I'm reading this at the moment and am really enjoying it. This is the first unputdownable book I've read in ages.
  13. I haven't read this one yet, but can't wait if it's funnier than Googlewhack Adventure!
  14. One book that made me laugh out loud was Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure! It's hilarious, my husband thought I'd gone mad because I would burst out laughing as I was reading. If you want something to make you laugh this is definitely my recommendation.
  15. I've never read this book, but it was one of my favourite films growing up. It made me cry buckets!! I'm going to hunt out the book now.
  16. This is really hard, I've been thinking long and hard about this. I THINK my top 5 is: 1. Travelling Light-Katrina Kittle 2. Ophelia's Revenge-Rebecca Reisert 3. Little Women-Louisa M. Alcott 4. If Only It Were True-Marc Levy 5. The Thorn Birds-Colleen McCullough I'm sure I'll change my mind as soon as I've hit Submit Reply!! That's my top 5 today!
  17. I was reading by the age of 3. My mum is a big reader and encouraged me from very early. We used to sit and read the TV Times together! Then at school we had Roger Red Hat, Billy Blue Hat and Jennifer Yellow Hat!! I loved reading at school and was always sent home with extra books. My favourites were My Naughty Little Sister books, Milly Molly Mandy, and Little Mrs Pepperpot. (I suddenly feel old)!!! I feel like I've always been reading!
  18. Oh, I love Tenacious D!! Have just got Scissor Sisters-Ta'Dah, but haven't had chance to listen to it yet. Judging by the comments on here it's going to be worth the wait. Sounds like it's going to be good.
  19. I really want to get this. Plus all the royalties go to a good cause, Great Ormond Street Hospital.
  20. I recently read this and have to say I enjoyed it but did wonder what all the fuss was about, as this was the first Jodi Picoult book I had read. I also guessed the ending and wanted to know just a little bit more about the eventual consequences for the guilty character. However, I was intrigued to read more after all the good things I have read on here. I have just started to read My Sister's Keeper which I am loving! If, like me, The Tenth Circle is your first venture into reading this author, don't let it be your last. Perservere and you will be highly rewarded.
  21. I had The Colour of Magic arrive in the post this morning so my Pratchett adventures can begin!!
  22. He thought of the blank pages in the victim's datebook. Eight weeks ago the entries had stopped. That was when Nina Peyton's life had screeched to a halt. The Surgeon-Tess Gerritsen. This is sitting on top of my TBR pile.
  23. am also reading The Tenth Circle now Hope you enjoy it! I really did, and can't wait to read the others.
  24. I have only read Misery and I really enjoyed it. It was more graphic than the movie (and that scared me enough)! Stephen King is one author I've never really tried but felt that I should, and reading this thread has made me want to read The Stand now!
  25. I am currently reading The Tenth Circle which is the first of her books I have read, and I'm really enjoying it. I've also just got The Pact from RISI, and all your comments are making me excited to start reading it!! I'm guessing that My Sister's Keeper is a must read so I'm now keeping my eyes open for that too.
