  1. The Damphyr series are really good.
  2. Trapiche Malbec is fantastic, so is a new zealand sav blanc called old coach road.
  3. Heart shaped box is good, but its ending leaves a fair bit to be desired.
  4. If you want some good comic readin' then check out DC's Identity Crisis and the more recent 52 for some ace stories.
  5. Some are amazin, some are truely awful.
  6. Yeah, I think so. tbh they entertain which makes up for the fantastical plots. Good silly reading.
  7. The stand is good, i like IT and Needful Things. I like the cthuhonic links with lovecraft and so on. His more recent books lack a certain feeling. Liseys story I'm looking at you
  8. I liked the 4th Bourne book, its pacing and action worked well. If you have read his ninja series, Lustbader excels at fight scenes and chases.
  9. Interview is good, the vampire lestat is poor. Queen of the damned is rather 'meh' but after that it picks up. Over all, I like her style as it reminds me of poe et al. Memnoch the devil is good and the vampire Arhmand is also good. Probably the best written vampire books avaliable to buy, far better than the trash that is usually passed of as vapire fiction.

    Hello

    Howdy
  11. The thief of always is a great book, I also suggest the books of blood.
  12. And I use my necromantic powers to raise this thread from the dead. I have just finnished the graphic novel JLA: Identity Crisis and wow, thats got to be one of the best darn comic I have ever read. I'm a fan of the JLA, but this book surpasses my expectations. I have also just added batman: Hush and the two tpb of the supreme power series (Marvel writers reimagining the DC universe). I have the bug, must buy more.
  13. I have read nearly all of Koontz' books, enjoyed most of them. Funhouse is all right, its got some tense parts but overall a bit of a let down. Give it a go and let us know what you think.
  14. My bad, sorry, Laymon is good for a no brainer book.
  15. Oh. I had forgotten Chasm. Another very good book, on a similar vein as anyone read Odd thomas by Dean Koontz?
  16. Try Stephen Laws, he's a better bet. His book Daemonic is worth a read, unless you suffer from claustropobia that is...
  17. Its tricky really, I generally only read the horror/thriller genre and I would class Laymons as mediocre. He has a penchant for sexual violence in most of his books and I do mean nearly every one. Sometimes his writing/plots are good, he likes the borderland between outright supernatural horror and strange human mutants. Funland is ok, if memory serves, no twists or surprises but a gore fest nonetheless. I say give it a go and see what you think, although avoid the beast house series like the proverbial plague.
  18. Wow, its surprising you get any work done... Oh wait...
  19. Personally, I would read the magician then not bother with his others as it hits a high that his other books (imo) fail to achieve.
  20. Darnit, they let anyone in here nowadays.
  21. I'm sorry, but you're being overly judgemental. The book is just as plagiarised as any other, pick up any sci fi and you could use the same argument with Asimov. Lovecraft took ideas from Howard, Stephan king has taken ideas from Lovecraft. does that make it plagiarism? Name me a series of fantasy containing orcs and wizards which isn't 'plagiarised' from Tolkien.
  22. I read the series a long time ago and loved them then, I tink I'll dig them out and have a read again.
  23. I think dumbledore knew he was going to die, he wanted it to be snape who kills him. Thats why they were arguing so much...I think.
  24. I honestly think that harry will not kill voldemort, i think someone like snape will kill him. Harry, being the hero will realise that by killing voldemort he will make him as bad as the dark lord. I'm expecting voldemort to be at harrys mercy [a long dialogue lulling him into lowering his guard] then attack when his back is turned only then to be killed by a character you least expect. I'm guessing snape, or a character returning frm the dead...maybe.
  25. I like needfull things, its one of his best. I like how mr kng references Lovecraft in this one as well, IT also gets my vote. The stand is good, excellent in fact up till the civic meetings, then it turns boring. Same with dreamcatcher, like the plot till the end where mr king decides to take some mind altering drug and disappear off to a tangency.
