    hello

Hello and welcome Kelly, where abouts in Lancs are you? I'm in Cleveleys and my daughter (Lilywhite) lives in Preston.
  2. Pulled another late nighter last night to finish Vanish, another one I couldn't put down. This is equally as good as Harvest, once i got past the first couple of chapters I was well and truely hooked. Tess Gerritsen is fast becoming one of my favourite authors and look forward to reading the rest of her books. Still plodding on with Shirley by Charlotte Bronte but think I'll start Blood Ties, Michelle's bookring book later on tonight Blood Ties by Sam Hayes It is January 1992. A baby girl is left alone for a moment; long enough for a mother to dash into a shop, and long enough for a child to be taken. Thirteen years later, solicitor Robert Knight's stepdaughter wins a place at a prestigious London school for the gifted. The only puzzle is his wife Erin's reaction. Why is she so reluctant to let Ruby go? Doesn't she want what's best for her? As Erin grows more evasive, Robert can't help but feel she has something to hide, and when he stumbles on mysterious letters, he discovers she has been lying to him. Somewhere in his wife's past lies a secret; a shocking secret that threatens to destroy everything..
  3. I prefer to read books in order but it doesn't always work out that way. I read the first few Martina Cole books out of order but the later ones I did. Lesley Pearse, Tess Gerritsen and Karin Slaughter are some other authors who's book I've read out of order so to speak.
  4. I am the main reader in my house, but if Kat lived at home she'd give me a run for my money , the only things hubby reads are classic car weekly, fishing reports and car manuals!, son occasionally reads and youngest tends to start books but not finish them. I keep trying to encourage her to read more but most times its like banging my head against a brick wall . We both joined the library a couple of years ago but she rarely comes with me now.
  5. Think this one might have to go on 'wish' list, great review Nici.
  6. What can I say, yes it does pull you in and thanks for recommending it Michelle. It was just such a lovely story and left me wishing I could have the same sort of adventure.
  7. Some of my favourite re-reads are: Princess Daisy - Judith Krantz The Legacy & The Inheritance - Claire Raynor The Wind In The Willows - Kenneth Grahame Black Beauty - Anna Sewell Great Expectations - Charles Dickens The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe - C S Lewis to name but a few, and I also have all of Lesley Pearse's and nearly all of Martina Cole's books which will definately get a re-read at some point.
  8. Finished Footprints In The Sand last night, a lovely book. I'd give anything to follow in their footsteps and take a journey like that. I didn't want it to end and even shed a tear or three . A well deserved 9/10 from me, I'm a sucker for a story like that. Next... Vanish by Tess Gerritsen A blessed event becomes a nightmare for pregnant homicide detective Jane Rizzoli when she finds herself on the wrong side of a hostage crisis. The nameless and beautiful woman appears to be just another corpse in the morgue. But when medical examiner Maura Isles unzips the body bag and looks down at what she's been told is an apparent suicide, she gets the fright of her life. The corpse opens its eyes. Now very much alive, the 'dead' woman is rushed to the hospital where her next action shocks everyone. With cool precision, she murders a security guard and seizes hostages. One of those hostages is a very pregnant patient: Jane Rizzoli. Who is this mysterious hostage-taker, and what does she want? As tense hours tick by, Maura joins forces with Jane's husband, FBI agent Gabriel Dean, to track down the nameless woman's identity. But only Jane, trapped with the armed madwoman, holds the key to the mystery. And only she can solve it - if she survives the night...
  9. What a lovely book, by the time I was half way through I couldn't put it down and didn't realise how involved I was till hubby said 'What are you crying for?'! Don't get me wrong it's not sad just beautifully written. I'd recommend it to anyone
  10. Part way through it and lovin' it
  11. Roast pork veg and potatoes.
  12. Hello and welcome Davo.
  13. Harvest by Tess Gerritsen was a brilliant read (IMHO), stayed up till 2am this morning just to finish it. This was one book where you had to read it in chunks rather that a chapter here and a chapter there. I couldn't leave the last few chapters I had to know how it finished . Next up is Footprints in the sand by Sarah Challis
  14. I'll second H&D's comments

  24. Finished You Can Run But You Can't Hide by Duane 'Dog' Chapman, although I have seen a lot of his tv series (Dog The Bounty Hunter) it was interesting to read about how it all came about, his childhood , family and the way he turned his life around. Still reading Harvest, hopefully have it finished in a day or two so I can get started on Footprints in the Sand which came home from the library with me today along with Shirley by Charlotte Bronte, Vanish by Tess gerritsen and Deafening by Francis Itani.
