  4. Definitely see the Yoda thing...even the wee tufty beardy bit..Yoda had that too didn't he.
  5. Oops...of course there is, forgot about that Claire, it is actually on my wishlist. Think I will be asking for this one for bdy. My boys always need ideas and I think it is out in paperback now
  6. 'Variation on a Theme' by Barbara Delinsky This was a bookray I joined up for but I had hardly started and soon found out that I didn't like the characters or the way it was written and very dated, that I never finished it. Just wasn't my sort of read so no review for this one.
  7. Just finished and thoroughly enjoyed 'the Lollipop Shoes' by Joanne Harris.
  8. 'The Lollipop Shoes' by Joanne Harris Having read 'Chocolat' twice and loved it I was hoping this would have the same appeal. I wasn't disappointed I loved it too. It was nice to meet up again with familiar characters from Chocolat and some new ones and a different setting. I found it a bit difficult to settle to it being set in modern times with references to mobile phones. I never actually imagine it in the present day for some reason. It's sense of magic, mystery and the totally mouthwatering references to chocolate of all descriptions made it a delight. Anouk and Vianne with little Rosette (who is her father!), and the devilish Zozie and her cast of characters from the past. You can't help like her to start with and how she helps with the chocolaterie and brightens up the shop and entices customers in, but you then find out she has her motifs and it is a must read to find out the conclusion. Vianne eventually reaslises things are not as they seem and is forced to make choices for the better. If you enjoyed 'Chocolat' I am sure you will like this one too. It is well written and am sorry there will be no more chocolate writing. 5/5
  9. Just finished The Lollipop Shoes and loved it....so want to read another chocolate related story. I liked it as much as Chocolat. Review here

Culter Youth Football Club Presentation night....Andy (5th from the right) and his other coach with thier 10yr award (actually there 11) and some his players who got 5yrs + awards. One of the guys who were comparing actually said after they were presented that folk may be wondering how they had 11yrs and explained that was including their time playing for Culter and then going back to help coach and that it was most commendable. Well done my boy

Well done again Andy Murray on your win at Queen's today....setting up well for a good Wimbeldon hopefully.
  12. Had viewings and hopefully folk have watched it too.
  13. Sent an 'unfinished' bookring of to the next person in the ring, off to Greece. Bit of a waste of money but the book just wasn't my read. Also sent a copy of 'Star Gazing' by Linda Gillard to 'Kidsmum'. She hasn't read any of Linda's books and I managed to swap a book for a copy on RISI.
  14. Linda posted this on Facebook. Thought any of her readers here might like to watch it. I have watched it and she is very good. This is what she wrote.... And now the moving pictures version.... This is the video of yesterday's publishing conference at Edinburgh Business School. I start at about 28 mins and I'm on for about 30. The Q & A at the end is probably the liveliest bit if you're pus...hed for time. But I recommend watching Mark Coker of Smashwords who follows me with a very entertaining & inspiring talk about the future of ebooks. (I haven't watched myself yet. I think I'd need a quadruple gin before I could face that.) Link
