  1. I am on a Bookray for that in Bookcrossing and am reading 'Plain Truth' at the moment (a bookring). I am just getting to the court room drama bit now..
  2. 1. It was my birthday yesterday (48th(!!!) 2. I will have been married to dh 22 years in October. 3. I have a younger sister. 4. I drive a Volvo estate V70 (the tank) 5. I trained as a Hotel Receptionist. (extra one I love chocolate )
  3. 'The Two of Us-My Life with John Thaw' by Sheila Hancock
  4. Sometimes with swap I get a postcard inside it. Also have various others. My youngest made a bookmark at school once and they laminated them...so I use that a lot. Also was sent to lovely bookstrings from someone in the USA I did book trade with on Bookcrossing.....they are unusual.
  5. Is a bit gory in places mind.....but you will laugh too (!) at the heed man.??
  6. Another three for the list. 'Thy Neighbour's Wife' by Ann Purser 'The Jane Austen Book Club' by Karen Joy Fowler (didn't finish though) 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' by Truman Capote
  7. I read this book really quickly when I started it. Well reviewed. I cried too at the end. Very thought provoking I thought.
  8. Isn't it just! Loved the sweetie eating boss
  9. I think that is partly what the problem was, none of the characters caught my attention :?
  10. I attempted (!) to read this but have to say I found it very boring. Jumping between references to Jane Austen Books (of which I haven't read any) and the characters in the book club. It was very disjointed and couldn't hold my interest at all. I usually try and finish books but I thought life is too short to try and finish something I'm not enjoying!! http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/4099508 Anyone else read (or tried to read) this book
  11. 'The School Run' by Sophie King OK read for holiday but nothing too exciting. Story of a group of people who do the same school run and how and eventual event brings them together.
  12. Tuesday with Morrie....yes I have read this one too. I was recommended it by a friend who leant me a copy for similar sort of reasons I have said on the other thread about Five People on the review forum. I cried at it though (having lost my mum not long before reading it) but I also found it comforting and have often used a couple of quotes from it in times of need as it were. Certainly one I would probably read again some time.
  13. Thanks everyone....it was strange how I ended up having the book. I had put it on my Christmas list and hubby had bought it for me then my mum died on the 21st Dece 2004 and I ended up reading it over Christmas....weird it was, but comforting at the same time. If you have read the book you might understand what I mean :?
  14. Spoke about this on another forum. My book is 'Shell Seekers' by Rosumunde Pilcher. Think I have maybe read it 3 times. What is yours.
  15. Don't really do Sci Fi.....but dh does. Doesn't really appeal to me to much in films either. Also Da Vinci Code....just one of those books I can't be bothered reading because it has been hyped up so much.
  16. Birdsong....and another one I have on my shelf I have forgotten about. Thanks for reminding me....too many books not enough time.
  17. I found this book a bit of a disappointment...all though well written I found it a bit of a chore to get through. But I'm glad you enjoyed it. Wouldn't do if we all liked the same...and I was a bit disappointed with the ending.
  18. Yip would agree with all that.....the one and only of hers I have read...laughed out loud a few times I seem to remember.
  19. Chocolat is by far her best book and although the film is good I love the book and imagining all the characters myself. One of the few books I would give 10/10 for.
  20. Yip read that one too....think the Cornwall references is what makes her books....although I have never been there myself it sounds a lovely part of the world.
  21. I'm reading a short book of hers just now.....Sleeping Tiger. Haven't read any of hers for a while . My all time favourite is 'Shell Seekers' Think I have read it about 3 times. One I will always have on my shelf. Not sure what it is exactly that I loved about it, but it was one I recommended to my mum and sis many years ago. To my delight it came to the Pitlochry Fesitval Theatre where the premier of the play was held. I managed to get to see it (my sis and bil work there) and it was very well done. Would recommend it as a play too. What is your favourite?
  22. I have only read the first one.....I didn't think I wanted to go through them one after the other....although now if I went back to them I'm not sure I would remember much about it
  23. I loved it once I got past trying to keep track of how old he was etc. The story kept me interested and page turning.
  24. They gave it a good review on Richard & Judy yesterday....might get it for a read.
  25. Haven't read it but recently joined up for a bookring for it on 'Bookcrossing'.
