Besides the music and the great artists, I knew 1955 was a great year for other reasons, especially Birthdays. 🙂 👍
If you look closely at this link you will see that you can find the Top 10 songs for any year from the 30's thru the 20's. Also, the popular artists for each year.
Birthdays for forum members are more difficult to find. 😄

If You've Got the Money, I've Got the Time - Lefty Frizzell

19. flags on the Bayou - James Lee Burke - 4/5 - Good book. The prose was excellent, and Burke thinks this was his best book. I think it was his best writing but not necessarily his best book. The story takes place in Louisiana during the civil war era and shows the cruelty that took place of both sides in the war.

"Love Is a Many Splendored Thing" won the academy Award in 1955 for best song from the movie with the same song. It also rose to a #1 song in the U.S. sung by the Four Aces. It is a beautiful song. The movie starred William Holden and Jennfer Jones Off screen they could not stand each other and barely talked. Jennifer Jones was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance but did not win.
I remember seeing the movie at a Drive-In with my then girlfriend.

What is your take on England and Spain. I think they may be the best 2 teams remaining.
I believe that the U.S. may be better than they have looked in the World Cup this year. The media and many people in the U.S. are coming down hard on them, I believe unjustifiably.

The U.S. will exit after losing to Sweden. This certainly was not a good World Cup for the U.S. I see a tough future for the U.S. as many teams in other Countries have made headway and the U.S., including coaching, has fallen behind.
