  1. Probably. As I say my memory is poor and it was a long time ago, but I might look out for a copy just out of curiosity. PP
  2. If I ever get stuck for something to read I'll have to return to your list. Thanks Louise PP
  3. Polka Dot Rock said... Good one Amy!! Louise sais ... And that is sad, and appalling and bodes badly for the future, but you have to hope that seeds are sown and the more intelligent will take them out of hibernation after a while and nurture them, otherwise we're lost! Not just in reading either. PP
  4. Michelle said... Yes. I think people used her name when referring to good little girl, but in a nice way...e.g.'she's a regular Pollyanna'. PP
  5. Dupin said LOL. yes it has begun to dawn on me that it might be difficult as I'm writing an average 2000-3000 words a day, but KW manages so I will just have to try. And anyway, as I say it might be trivial and rubbish , in which case I'll just go back to reading. Much safer methinks....but we'll see! PP
  6. Found her. Pollyanna by Eleanor H. Porter and also When Pollyanna grew up. The reviews are very positive saying that the books are a good read and have a real feel good factor for both young people and adults. Think I will have to find a copy of Pollyanna. PP
  7. Although my memory is very poor, given that it was about 40years ago, but I grew up with Anne of Green Gables and also the Katy Books, and also Pollyanna. Remember Pollyanna? Can't remember the author. Will have to look it up on Amazon. I know I loved them all. Maybe its time to revisit them I still have Katy, and What Katy Did and possibly What Katy did next. Will have to have a look. PP
  8. My goodness! Some serious reading. At the rate I read it would probably be a five list for me. However, Kell and NuttyMum might give you a run for your money. I am not sure that lists and targets are always a good idea. Maybe a topic for a new thread here as I reckon we all have different ways of using lists and setting targets and reasons for doing or not doing lists. It has to be a balance though or else the pleasure is taken out of reading because of the unconscious (very conscious, in some cases) pressure to get down the list. Good luck with it though and let us know your thoughts on some of them. As for this Bill bloke...would be good to meet him. Think he's cropped up somewhere before...(scatches head) PP
  9. Is it very bloodthirsty Michelle? I'm a bit of a coward. I love Kelley Armstrongs stories, but I think they're about my limit as far as gore is concerned. PP
  10. Wow, thats an impressive list. It might even rival Kells! Lots of good books on there, so enjoy and be sure to tell us about the best. PP
  11. Gosh Liz. is this what you intend to read. You are going to be very busy. I'd be interested in learning what you think about the Alan Bennet ones. He is such a good observer of human behaviour. Good luck with the list. I'm sure you will add and subtract as the year progresses. PP
  12. My goodness. She (kelley A) has been working hard and setting herself some awesome targets. I hope quality is not sacrificed for quantity. I must get back onto her website. I would like to read the novellas. Are the previous ones on there too Kell? PP
  13. And I will pass on Falling Leaves to you... Falling Leaves Return to Their Roots: The True Story of an Unwanted Chinese Daughter by Adeline Yen Mah ... so that will be another one to add to the list! It's endless... thank goodness! PP:)
  14. You wished for a copy...you shall have one...so long as you write your usual review for KW. I will email you with an attachment. Hope that's OK katherine? I won't send it till you agree. Any chance of another download BTW? PP:friends0:
  15. Michelle wrote this at the beginning of this thread;
  16. Hi KW. I finished An Open Vein yesterday, but will have to review it later as right now I have a migraine. I really enjoyed it, so there will be positive feedback, don't worry! PP
  17. Spinach is not so popular over here, and you don't see fresh spinach very often. It's there but you have to look for it. Your recipes sound tasty. PP
  18. Angel said I couldn't agree more. I also judge by the state of the veg. PP
  19. Brussel sprouts are beautiful if not boiled for too long. Soft over-cooked vegetables are a common fault in British cooking, which is probably why so many folk don't like them. I cook mine just as Pontalba does, with the incisions, but checking frequently so that they still have 'bite' when served. They saute well too. Yum yum!! PP
  20. Kell said.. Can I be first in the queue please? I am half way through the Snow Spider and loving it,. Please Pretty please with a on top! PP
  21. Kell...I have come to the conclusion that you have eyes in the back of your head, so that you can read two books at a time, and two reading brains, so that you can assimilate them both! How DO you do it??? I thought you had only just started the Joanna Harris one. Wow! PP
