  1. I'm also interested about Moab is my Washpot. I'm a little tempted to read it, but not too sure.
  2. My sister is reading it at the moment. She's been reading it for about 2 weeks now and is on page 70. She says she's finding it really hard going because it keeps swapping back and forth from the different times in history. She says she's finding it hard to know where she is in the book. Is the whole of the book like this?
  3. I've ordered this from Amazon, so it will be going on my TBR pile in a few days.
  4. I read all three a few years back. Really enjoyed the first two in the set, thought they were excellent, but the third one seemed to go just that bit too far. I didn't really enjoy the last book at all, which was a shame because the first two were great.
  5. I bought Breakfast at Tiffany's the other day. Thought it looked to be a good book. A quick read for when I don't want anything too heavy going.
  6. I think I'll move on to one of the books I bought the other day. Seeing as I've already had a comment on it, I'll choose....... The Thirty-Nine Steps ~ John Buchan
  7. The Wind in the Willows Quite enjoyed it. It took me a while before I fully got into the book, but once I did, I found it to be a great little book.
  8. I wouldn't recommend The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells. Found that to be a very dull story. So much more could have been done with the idea.
  9. Now, I really enjoyed Dorian Gray. I thought the idea of the story was a great idea. I ended up enjoying the book more and more the further I got into it.
  10. Appleby had been taking four times as many Atabrine tablets as the amount prescribed because he wanted to be four times as good a pilot as everyone else. His eyes were still shut when Sergeant Tower tapped him lightly on the shoulder and told him he could go in now if he wanted to, since Major Major had just gone out. Appleby's confidence returned. Catch-22 Joseph Heller
  11. Ah, now I really enjoyed that one. The one book I couldn't stand, however, was The Righteous Men by Sam Bourne. I found it to be a complete waste of reading time.
  12. Ooooo....Clever thinking, that.
  13. Ooooooo......tough one. In the mood I'm in at the moment, my top five are..... Animal Farm ~ George Orwell Nineteen Eighty-Four ~ George Orwell The Picture of Dorian Gray ~ Oscar Wilde Moving Pictures ~ Terry Pratchett Ginger Geezer: The Life of Vivian Stanshall ~ L. Randall & C. Welch Come tomorrow morning, though, and this list would have changed.
  14. I try not to read too many older classics one after the other. It's mainly because of the older style of writing - it can be a bit too descriptive and heavy going. It's nice to have a bit of a break from that style and read something a bit lighter.
  15. Ha Ha . My nan used to adore Mills & Boon. She used to like the Doctors & Nurses type. She always liked a bit of a saucy story, did our nan.
  16. Yeah, from what people have said about the book, I think I would like it. I heard quite a bit about it, most of it being positive. Sounds like a good book.
  17. I haven't read it myself, but I would like to. Quite a few of my friends have read it and they all said that they had enjoyed it. It's one of those books that I'm sure I'll read one day, just not sure when.
  18. Right, that's it. It's going on my TO BE READ pile. Thanks Kat.
  19. Ta-Dah is a great album! I love listening to it - rarely has it come out of the CD player since I bought it. 'Course, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Let us know what you think of it.
  20. I've read the first four books in the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde. I've also read the first two of Michael Palin's travel books - but I intend to read them all at some stage.
  21. I've not been too sure whether to give A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian a try. I keep seeing it everywhere I go. I've read the few pages on the review section here, but I'm still not 100% sure. Could you let us know what it's like when you finish it? That would be great.
  22. Felt as though I needed some fresh air this morning, so off I toddled round town. Big mistake! Ended up going into WHSmith. Came out with....... The Shining ~ Stephen King The Thirty-Nine Steps ~ John Buchan Breakfast At Tiffany's ~ Truman Capote Catch-22 ~ Joseph Heller Looks like I'm going to have to find some more space now!
  23. That's great! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about Holden.
  24. Ooooo....Sounds good, that does.
  25. I read the Discworld series. But I'm not sure if that's what you mean.
