  1. Have spent most of the morning reading and have now finished LORDS AND LADIES. I loved this Discworld tale. Nanny Ogg is my favourite of the witches and I enjoyed her in this book. The witches are not really my favourite of the Discworld groups, but I found this one to be one of their best so far.
  2. Am still reading LORDS AND LADIES. Really enjoying this one. This is one of my favourites of the witches books so far. I haven't been able to read as often as I would like this week as I've had quite a bit of coursework to finish. Will be able to spend more time on it tomorrow.
  3. Hello Winston. Great list! Have read a few of the ones on there - Animal Farm Nineteen Eighty-Four A Clockwork Orange The Catcher in the Rye The Picture of Dorian Gray. Really enjoyed them. There are quite a few others on your list that I've got waiting on the shelf to be read as well. Welcome to the forum.
  4. I love the film of The Secret Garden - I though Maggie Smith was good.
  5. Yep, I'll let you know - but it could be a while before I get to it.
  6. I've got The Secret Garden waiting on my TBR mountain.
  7. You know, he reminds me of someone, but I cannot think who.
  8. Wow, you've read lots of books already and it's only about the middle of February.
  9. I've got that Gideon Mack one. Found a copy of it in a charity shop. Not sure whether it is meant to be any good or not, though. It would be good to see what you thought about it.
  10. Ooh, yes, I forgot that one. He's definitely one of my favourites!
  11. Commoners were just about allowed a stick to throw. Magrat found herself wondering what Nanny Ogg would be allowed - a small chicken on a spring, probably. There was no specific falcon for a withch but, as a queen, the Lancre rules of falconry allowed her to fly the wowhawk or Lappet-faced Worrier. LORDS AND LADIES Terry Pratchett
  12. I agree, mine has as well!
  13. Have now finished the George Orwell one. It was a nice, quick little read. One that is very simple to follow. Moving on to ....... LORDS AND LADIES Terry Pratchett The fairies are back - but this time they don't just want your teeth.... Granny Weatherwax and her tiny coven are up against real elves. It's Midsummer Night. No time for dreaming......
  14. Yep, that's the one.
  15. I have only read one of his - it was the one where he goes round Britain. Thought that was very funny.
  16. There were six beds in the dormitory, and the sheets, marked in huge letters 'Stolen from No.- Road', Smelt loathsome. In the next bed to me lay a very old man, a pavement artist, with some extraordinary curvature of the spine that made him stick right out of bed, with his back a foot or two from my face. It was bare, and marked with curious swirls of dirt, like a marble table-top. DOWN AND OUT IN PARIS AND LONDON George Orwell
  17. Finished The Diary of a Nobody last night. Really enjoyed this one. Found it to be quite funny. Am now going to have a go at......... DOWN AND OUT IN PARIS AND LONDON George Orwell
  18. Thanks, Angel. I wasn't sure which ones to have a go at. I'll keep an eye out for those two.
  19. I love Nineteen Eighty-Four. It's such a great book.
  20. "I know Daisy. She would wait ten years for me, as I said before; in fact, if necessary, she would wait twenty years for me." THE DIARY OF A NOBODY George Grossmith
  21. Will now be starting....... THE DIARY OF A NOBODY George & Weedon Grossmith The Diary of a Nobody is so unassuming a work that even its author, George Grossmith, seemed unaware that he had produced a masterpiece. For more than a century this wonderfully comic portrayal of suburban life and values has remained in print, a source of delight to generations or readers, and a major literary influence, much imitated but never equalled.
  22. Finished Rebecca last night. Absolutely loved the book! A great story with some excellent descriptions made it a fantastic book for me. I loved the style of the writing as well. It has to be a 10/10 book. I will definitely be on the lookout for more of Daphne du Maurier's work.
  23. Well it's definitely on my list. I am really looking forward to reading Moab Is My Washpot, PDR. Sounds like it could be good.
  24. Yep, just a bit.
  25. I wouldn't worry about the amount of homework you're getting. You will soon get used to it and it will not seem quite as much as originally did. Hey, and nice going with the Maths and Science!
