When you first mentioned it, I spent ages searching for a mod or something to add smilies to the editor for visitor messages. And all you have to do is press the 'advanced' button! Thanks Laura!

It's rather time consuming for us to try to list everyone's birthday, keep it updated etc.. when the software tells us anyway.
-
It comes up at the bottom of the forum.
-
And she does get offered review books, but is too snowed under to accept them.
-

Yep, but unfortunately mine is one I would never have picked up for myself, and I'm not enjoying it so far.
-
LOL.. it's going down! I'll bring it back up.. I'm 35.
-
Someone asked us what our average age was on here. I'm not able to find out through our stats, as not everyone has given a year of birth when registering. So, I thought I'd post a poll. (I'll set it so no one can see your answer!
)

Personally, I'm a little fed up with these lists about 'must reads'.. we all know here how much individual tastes vary, so the books that one person finds essential may mean very little to someone else.
-
Why would I need it back when I've just offered to lend it to you?
It's a shame Raven doesn't have a new one for you to 'get your teeth into'!
-
Is that where it went?!
-
That's why I suggested short stories.
-
Yep, I hate having phases like that. Was there anything on my shelves that you think might grab your attention? Ooh.. I think upstairs I have a book of short stories by Neil Gaiman - short stories might help??
-
Welcome from me, I'm sure you'll soon get lots of recommendations.
-
We do have quite a range of ages, but I have no idea what the average is. I feel a poll coming on...

I've gotten much more into LT this year. I've decided to use my tags to categorise, hence collection together books read this year, review books etc
Don't forget the BCF group, it's very quiet in there.

Mia, we always seem to have opposite views about these shows, because I really liked that one!
I do know what you mean though.. there have been rumours about him having a daughter, and you would have expected it to have been someone who had been growing up over the past few years.. with a history etc. However, it was interesting to find out that he has had a daughter previously, and it sounds like she was killed - that man is carrying some serious baggage around!
With regards spoilers etc, I think that once a show is aired, there is no need for spoilers. I, for example, didn't get to see this episode until this morning, so I simply avoided the thread. It seems silly if people won't discuss a show, just in case someone hasn't yet seen it.
(I'll add a sticky to this forum, explaining.)

That's where I started too, and I've read all the rest since, and enjoyed them all!
-
I agree Louise, I read about half of it, then gave up. I kept thinking that I should be enjoying it, but I just wasn't.

Now we're a quarter of the way through the year, I wondered how it was going for you, reading wise. Has it been a good start, or a bad one? Do you seem to be reading more books, or less? Which have been your favourites?
Personally, I'm surprised by the amount of books that I've read so far.. according to LT, I've finished 30 books already! (Last year I read 51 in total.) This may be down to the fact that quite a few of these have been review books, either from authors or publishers, so I've felt quite a bit of pressure to get them read. Plus, thankfully, the majority have been pretty good reads!
Although there have been many good reads, my absolute highlights were:
Notes From An Exhibition by Patrick Gale
Blood Ties by Sam Hayes
Emotional Geology by Linda Gillard

Oh dear - I've been so busy keeping my blog page updated, as well as my LT, that I've neglected this bit! Anyway, my list so far is here (blog), and here (LT).
-
I definitely need to put that one on my wish list then.
-
Andrea, I wondered that too, which is why I went searching to find out what was really meant. Sorry, I forgot to add the link.. it's here (read down a bit).
The first episode of Ashes to Ashes makes it all quite clear aswell.. have you seen it?
