  1. As mentioned in the thread for the final season, I've decided to start a general thread to discuss all things related to LOST. There are many things which have left rather open in the show, and I'd love to get your thoughts on them. Do you have a favourite season, a favourite character? What did you like and dislike? Were you satisfied over all? Etc!
  2. I often go through my shelves and take some books to a charity shop, I just find that my tastes can change, and some books which looked good when I bought or found them no longer look attractive.
  3. I'm hoping that now it's over, a few people here might want to discuss it more. As it's been aired in the US and the UK, I think it's easier to continue the discussion without the use of spoilers. So from this point, if you're still catching up with the ending, DO NOT READ ON! I'll be back later to share some thoughts etc. ETA: I've actually decided to start a new thread, to discuss all things LOST, rather than focusing on the final season. Please post here if you have questions or thoughts about this series, but for general discussion, please go here.
  4. Yep, I agree.
  5. We've just watched it (recorded) and I know that feeling! lol All I will say for now is that some people won't like it, but I loved it.
  6. The only other Maguire I've read is Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister - that took me a while to get into, but I enjoyed it by the end, and was glad I'd read it. So, I shall give this one a bit longer.
  7. I'm not really that keen on classics Abby, but listening might be easier than reading, so it's something I may consider. I have to admit I'm struggling with Wicked, but I'm not that far in yet.
  8. I'm listening to Wicked at the moment, but I'm not that far in. I also started Good Omens but have lost interest in that one. I also have waiting (runs off to grab ipod) Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell (should keep me busy for some time! lol), Ptolemy's Gate, Songs of the Dying Earth and a couple of Torchwood stories.
  9. Thanks for the suggestion pickle.. I shall take a look when I get through my current list.
  10. I finished Apartment 16 last night, and my overall impression was very good. It's slow to build up, and gets better as it goes along. I'll be writing a proper review soon, but I would recommend it for horror fans looking for something a bit different.
  11. Thank you so much for that! Unfortunately I'm working all day Monday, so I'm not sure I can get up at 5am. However, we shall record, and watch as soon as we can in the evening!
  12. Ooh, I always stick to those guidelines about how long to keep, I'm so scared of making myself ill!
  13. I tend to listen to audiobooks when I go to bed Maureen, for many reasons. It sounds strange, but I used to go to bed feeling very tired, but not able to sleep. This way, I still get to 'read' if I'm tired, plus it really helps me relax, and get sleepy. It's also been helpful with my back being painful.. it's uncomfortable to sit in bed and read, but with my ipod, I can get comfy!
  14. I've just realised that I've only read or listened to 11 books so far this year, which is a little slow for me. Mind you, I do have 5 others on the go at the moment. I didn't do much actual reading when my back was bad, and I have spent quite a lot of time at bed time listening to LOST podcasts! My main read at the moment is Apartment 16 by Adam Nevill - I'm half way through, and still can't decide what I think.
  15. Hi kez - we have a subsection for this, which isn't available until you have 10 posts. ie members are not able to sell or swap until they reach 10 posts. Looking forward to seeing more of you around the forum.
  16. Hi - I got fed up last night, and took myself off to bed early! I'm glad to hear the headaches are a bit better. Let me know what the doc suggests next.

Unfortunately I've only seen the physio once, and he hasn't suggested anything nice like massage! He basically gave me exercises to stretch out my legs, bum and lower back.. I can feel the pull when I do them, but I'm not convinced they're actually helping. I'm not sure if it's worth paying for a osteopath.. I'd need one recommended to me though, as I'm scared of anyone making it worse!

I hope your day is going good. Hugs!

  17. Hiya.. how are those headaches at the moment?

  18. No, that's not been mentioned by anyone.
  19. Apparently he used the same dagger which has been given to others, plus she didn't speak to MiB before he stabbed her. If you recall, both Richard and Sayid were given a dagger (one to kill Jacob, the other to kill MiB as Locke), and were told to strike before the person spoke to them. Plus, she obviously wanted to die, as she said 'thank you'.
  20. Are there many of us still watching? If so, what were your thoughts about Across the Sea? I've heard that many people hated it, but I liked it. I would imagine that those who didn't like it had very high expectations for the episode - I know I did feel a little let down, but when you take the episode as a whole, and don't expect too many actual answers, I think it's good. A few thoughts, questions etc.. did their mother has 'smokey' abilities? We never saw it, but she was able to kill everyone in the village, and fill in the well - it seems to me she must have been a smokey to do that. Was she a mixture of good and bad, doing whatever it took to protect the island, and the 'light'? Is the smokey we saw all the bad that was in MiB, or his soul in general? And are we any closer to understanding why he was not allowed to leave? When he asked his mother as she died, she simply said 'Because I love you'.. is that it?! Some are theorising that when he came out of the well, he carried the light with him.. so if he leaves, the light leaves. I'm not sure how I feel about that. And finally.. how do you think it will end? Will Jack and Locke be left on the island, with Jack as the new protector? Or, as it's entitled The End, will the island be destroyed (under water, as we saw at the beginning of the season), with either the light protected, or put out? And will Desmond need to go into the well to do something, as he can apparently survive it? Plus, of course, how do the side flashes fit in? The writer's keep saying how important they are, so will they all survive in that life, after the island is destroyed? Any thoughts?
  21. My mum said exactly the same thing the other day! (And I agreed.) Again, I agree - but there are some who love him in the role.
  22. Matt Smith just isn't working for me at all, but out of them, I think I preferred this episode the best.
  23. There is a reason why you NOT allowed to post links until you have 10 posts. Please make sure you read the rules. Thank you.

  24. This is a book originally published in 1993, but this time around it seems to have caught the attention of reviewers. The new hardback cover certainly has an eye catching simplicity about it. The story itself is quite unusual, Susan receives a manuscript from her ex husband, which he asks her to read, stating she was always his best critic. Susan is a keen reader, and she chooses a time when her husband is away, thus reading it in three sittings. In this way, we get to read Edward
  25. I've started Wicked as an audiobook, and I have to say I'm struggling with the beginning. It's good to hear that the second part seems better, as I may persevere.
