If you are intending just to back up books and plan to stick them back on a kindle at some point you won’t need to do any DRM shenanigans.

    True

I use a free program called Calibre to manage what is on my kindle and have done for years. It allows you to load ebooks from any source or any format onto a kindle or other e-reader and it also allows you to download any books off the kindle onto your computer. I believe it can also strip any DRM from an ebook but I’ve never done that so I can’t vouch for it. I’m not sure if Amazon will manage to block Calibre from being able to do this but it should work as a solution for a while at least.

This is what I’m doing but you need an add-on to strip the DRM

I went to a paint pouring workshop last week, the pictures have only just finished drying.  Here are the best two, the 3rd one was a disaster as I used light colours which just merged into a blob, then tried using a darker colour, which just made it look like something had been spilt on it!  2 out of 3 isn't too bad I suppose.

That doesn't include other devices, I hope? I only read on my tablet.

I think it does. I mentioned the PC because I assume that, like me, readers have hundreds of Kindle e-books and therefore need to download them to a PC to back them up. My brother isn’t bothered about it but I am backing mine up. Amazon can take the book away if they want to, you’re buying the licence to read not the book.

Shakespeare , couldn't make heads or tails of it .

I thought Shakespeare was magical back then.  Then again, I was allowed to listen to my grandmother quote whatever she felt like quoting whilst she (she would not allow anyone else in the kitchen at the time) did her dishes. I remember as a very small child being shown what was the threshold to the kitchen and told that I must not cross it but could listen to her if I kept quiet, and I did.  She didn't just quote things parrot fashion she 'emoted' as they say in acting circles. I had no idea what she was saying but I got the gist from the expression in her voice. When I got to secondary school Shakespeare, Burns and sections of The King James version of the Bible all made perfect sense to me.

Another book of H.G. Wells: World without End is another of my favorites concerning time travel into a future. I don't think anyone of us were born while him writing that novel. I've a hard cover of that and it earily reminds me of the Divine Comedy. And I have a hard cover of that too.

Think you mean The World Set Free by H G Wells.
