Oh wow that would have been fun! At least you know for next time what to work on and change I was incredibly worried about the shanks too, hours and hours spent worrying about just how badly I could stuff it up. I say go for it You never know until you try! Even if it isn't perfect the first time around, you learn what to alter and change next time. Shelfy

Tonight I am a little bit proud of myself. I made my first attempt at cooking Lamb Shanks in the oven and also cooking Bread and butter pudding. Both turned out amazingly, An afternoon of work well spent. Incredibly proud, also a very happy well fed fiance, housemate and fiance's dad. So my question is, when have you attempted a brand new recipe, stories, good and bad, all welcome. Also, has anyone made these things before? Any tips to make them better next time, because guaranteed every time I cook something it is slightly different. Shelfy

After a quick google search, the only result I can pull up that is even remotely helpful (even then not entirely) is amityville horror claims to be based on true events but isn't. Although from what I can tell these claims are controversial. Apart from that, you get it in movies a fair bit but not so much in books. Authors don't really seem to sell it that way I guess. Hope that helps a little... sorry if it doesn't Shelfy

Finished "from a buick 8" last night. Put a book mark into Twilight to do a reread. I figure if i don't like it, I can take it to one of the charity shops that are close to home. Shelfy

The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith

The issue I seem to have is finding the books from earlier in the series! Although I have that issue with a lot of old books. It's irritating. Shelfy -

Only just managed to drag him out of his unconscious state, he slapped his hand down onto the bedside table a few times searching for his phone. Hoping to simply make that dreadful noise stop. Successfully finding it he.. Shelfy -

Glanced down at the watch on her wrist, realizing just how late it really was, as well as just how early she needed to be up the next morning for work. Another day another dollar she thought with a frown. I really wish.. (Thanks Poppy, it's fun!) Shelfy -

The most disturbing work of fiction that you have ever read
BookShelfy91 replied to Oblomov's topic in General Fiction
Recently read The Auschwitz - Can't remember the author..a very very strong handed book. Incredibly confronting. A very informing read, but also very very disturbing! What's more disturbing is, everything that is described in the book is true? They don't tell you this kind of stuff in school.. Shelfy -

Road cone that I grabbed off the side of the road from the last set of roadworks that I went through. It's very orange and shiny and very pretty..I can't believe.. Shelfy -
Authors spoiling their own novels
BookShelfy91 replied to emelee's topic in General Book Discussions
I can't stand it when someone gives away spoilers for a movie or tv series, let alone a book, that is just rude! The Harry Potter one with the character dying advertisement did irritate me to no end. I mean who does that!? What exactly is the point? It would have more chance of sending a reader running then drawing them in wouldn't it? Shelfy -
