  1. Aw- Thanks I saw you weren't feeling so well yourself, I'm glad you are feeling better now. I am still having problems reading, but I am listening to a heck of a lot of music!
  2. Bob and Fred's Substance D (A Scanner Darkly)
  3. Oooh- I want Scarlett's green dress!
  4. Thanks- I love Massie and have been looking forward to Catherine for awhile.
  5. I pre-ordered the new Catherine Ryan Hyde book, slated for the end of May, Leaving Blythe River It was on sale for 5 dollars! I also downloaded another immersion reading book, Robert K. Massie's Catherine the Great. Hopefully, I can find something that catches.
  6. Ya but it was a Tarantino... it's always over the top
  7. Did I seriously miss all these comments on Crimson Petal?? I do hope to get to it later this year, although there is an Immersion version... I suggest Atlas Shrugged over The Fountainhead. Atlas Shrugged is good, it shouldn't be too hard, they are actual stories, so you don't have to quite get into the philosophy. And One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is great! It'd probably only take you a few hours. Now I am daunted by The Scarlet Letter, as my mom has been wanting to read it with me for ages.
  8. Breathe by The Prodigy
  9. I'm going to pick books from this year and last: 1) Jodi Picoult's The Pact 2) Ronald C. Rosbottom When Paris Went Dark 3) Sandy Tolan's The Lemon Tree 4) Jon Krakauer's Under the Banner of Heaven 5) Uwen Kapan's Say You're One of Them That's the only one that comes to mind for me. Oh! Madeleine L'Engle, A Wrinkle in Time.
  10. It certainly isn't an easy read. I'm glad it's rated so high for you. I started Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper today on audio immersion. It's going well so far. I also have Caroline Knapp's Appetites and King's The Stand going
  11. Speaking of disturbing, did you ever get to anything by Kathe Koja and I missed it? I just need a push And it comes in audio too!
  12. I totally forgot a Feb. summary! I should do that It's sooo good to have you back!
  13. I am enjoying The Stand. I've read it once, but that was years ago, it's interesting how certain events trigger others in a re-read. I'm doing it on audio and my focus is getting a lot better, so hopefully, I can either speed up the narration or actually read it myself! The audio is some 40 hours lol That is very appreciated and nice, thank you all!
  14. Hiroshima changed my life. I hope you find it as good.
  15. Firestarter by The Prodigy
  16. Thanks Muggle
  17. I got (was lucky enough) to read Tuck Everlasting in 5th grade and it really opened a gateway to exploring books. If gateway is the right word I agree about The Heart Goes Last. Sometimes I don't get on with Atwood, but this one, I really enjoyed and was happy to get my eyes on
  18. I think he deserved it... but I would have liked to see The Martian get something. But I haven't seen the movie, so I can't really say. Wow- according to the Academy, you'd think it was one of the best lol I'd like to give The Revenant another try (the book). Ditto.
  19. Judith- A Perfect Circle
  20. I want to know how that goes- it might go on my list for this year. I always love your recommendations I listened to both my audiobooks today, and actually feel like I am making some progress. Hoping for 25% in Caroline Knapp's Appetites and am at 13% in The Stand... might stay up tonight and enjoy
  21. Thanks Noll, that's very nice of you Today I was able to read a bit and am feeling somewhat better. I can see the light lol (hopefully )
  22. Haven't been feeling so well for the past couple of weeks, so haven't been on the forum lately. Focusing on reading has been really difficult and even with the Immersion audio books. So I've put off some books and have been listening to my music the past few days. I decided to listen from A to Z now, I started last night with 1% by Jane's Addiction and now have made it to Easy by the Commodores. Hope to get back to audio versions of The Stand and Caroline Knapp's Appetites soon
  23. Has anyone seen both The Revenant and The Martian? How did Matt Damon compare to Leo? And has anyone seen Spotlight? I just watched the Oscars
  24. I wish you good luck with The Revenant, I just could not get through the sample. It wasn't graphic or anything (the small bit I read), but it jumped around a bit and confused me. Have you seen the movie for The Martian? I hope not and you can experience the book properly, I loved it, but knew the end Did you see CRH will be out with a new book, Leaving Blythe River on June 14th? It sounds good.
  25. Loud, angry and depressing: Korn A Perfect Circle Marilyn Manson Alice in Chains some little known Pearl Jam/ Eddie Vedder and Nirvana and some old Soundgarden and Incubus.
