  1. Divergent, I have to recommend. So good. There are 3.
  2. ha ha the woman who helped me was from India too! She said it was no big deal but it was! And I could tell she was helping others too. She was so nice. I have a Paperwhite that is all touch so maybe we have the same? I do have the author/ title function but its so irritating when the author or book is so many pages in the collection. Like.... just at random from mine... I have 44 pages of books- either organized by author or title
  3. Still reading Angela's Ashes but I'm going through it at medium pace. Didn't read last night, but plan to today. Its supposed to rain today, so that should be lovely reading weather
  4. I don't know if this will be any help to anyone, but I got the best customer service from Amazon last night! Has anyone ever had to transfer books from one Kindle to another? And you have to do it one by one? I logged in to the Support Chat and the woman totally did the whole thing for me! I now have my whole digital library on my Paperwhite Now, question- if I want a book that's in the middle of my collection, do I have to page through all the pages to that book or is there a search function?
  5. I didn't realize 3:10 to Yuma was a book! Look forward to your comments. Holy Moley! Those are gorgeous! Never heard of them before now. I love winter, but I'm not sure I could handle that much snow. I don't prefer a California winter (at least recent ones) when its about 65 and no rain. Maybe like for a month sporadically and I'm in Napa so close to SF. I love the rain, and once thought I'd love living in Seattle, but after visiting on a cross country trip, I quickly changed my mind. That is an entirely different kind of rain.
  6. I got a single cup coffeemaker for my birthday, so having a Kona coffee, with a lil cream and a teaspoon of sugar- and its yum!
  7. Too bad it's not in Euros
  8. I'm still new here, but welcome back! I have had several issues with depression and anxiety that have kept me from the things I love. I'm glad you are feeling- at least somewhat- better. Looking forward to seeing you around.
  9. I had a lovely time- truly spoiled Disneyland was gorgeous- about 70 during the day (21C), nice, sunny, Southern Cali weather Can't wait to
  10. Back from a 4 night stay at Dineyland. Got $100 in Amazon Gift Cards for my birthday!!!! We're talking like, almost half my TBR list this year or more. I'm so excited! Oh ya, and started Angela's Ashes (on the TBR list) while away. Liking it so far, about page 180. Not so much reading time when vacationing at The Happiest Place on Earth
  11. I've only read The Kite Runner so far but have really wanted to read some of his other books, just haven't had time. Happy Reading to you too! I'm definitely looking forward to We Need to Talk About Kevin now and glad The Poisonwood Bible is so highly recommended. I've read a ton of her work, but more YA (The Bean Trees, Animal Dreams, Pigs in Heaven, High Tide in Tucson). Happy New Year to you!
  12. I actually planed to have a short TBR list as I like to do a lot of virtual shopping at Amazon! BTW- I ended up finishing The Handmaids Tale. I might start Life or Pi or Salem's Lot will take over- two not on my TBR list Oh- and I'm totally looking forward to Cujo! I did see the movie Trainspotting, so am a bit prepared- hopefully! Any books you're super excited for this year?
  13. From what you say and seem to like, I'd try the Divergent series before Hunger Games (although Hunger Games trilogy is one of my favorite "books") I'm not into YA at all but man, Divergent isn't like anything I've read before, YA or not. Thief of Always is a great YA Barker book, written long ago, although my daughter will have to be preteen before reading it . I've tried to read Abarat before, but I'm going to try again. Reading Books of Blood #1 right now, a collection of his short stories... it's good- like everything Barker
  14. Went shopping for luggage at Guess today. Excellent sales from the outlet stores, I also got 2 purses- one from Guess and one from Coach. I can put both my tablet, cord and Kindle in them. We are headed to Disneyland (season passes) so I can't wait to use my new luggage!
  15. And same to you- thanks!
  16. I'm glad to hear you liked We Need to Talk About Kevin. It sounds good, but I wasn't sure I'd like it too much. Happy New Year and Happy reading!
  17. Last night we had the most amazing filet mignon with sautéed mushrooms and baked potatoes. I had excellent wine, then some Champaign and fell asleep before 12 I'm old (37 on the 8th), give me a break! Today I went with my mom and bought some Much needed dishes at one of my favorite store. Gorgeous pattern, can't wait to get them into the cupboard! Happy 2014!! And here's to all the books TBR in the New Year!
  18. Thanks- I'm so jealous you live in Netherlands!
  19. Angelina Jolie as Maleficent in 3D
  20. I'm back to The Handmaids Tale, with Books of Blood #1 on the side. Salem's Lot will be next.
  21. All the books on my TBR list but mostly Doomed, the sequal to Chuck Palahniuk's Damned. I'm going to re read Damned first before Doomed. Also looking forward to (recommended from here) Roald Dahl. And The Poisonwood Bible. OH! And Alison Weir's book Elizabeth of York: A Tudor Queen just came out not too long ago, so that's on the list too.
  22. Starting 2014 with Salem's Lot by Stephen King, Books of Blood #1 by Clive Barker and The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Attwood. I usually don't read more than one book at a time, but am making an exception this time.
  23. American Hustle is great- saw it the other night. Jennifer Lawrence is hilarious.
  24. I am now officially reading Books of Blood #1 by Clive Barker and Salems Lot by Stephen King. Both are yummy already. Had to give up The Handmaids Tale after 100 pages (Thanks Frankie)
