  5. I hope it all goes really well - a week is a very long time when you just have people in and out of the house.
  6. I'm approximately 1/3 of the way in Gathering Blue, and I am getting into it now, as it is a complete time frame and history from The Giver.
  7. Thanks poppyshake I've calmed down a bit now , and now I think it more clearly, it won't be that bad as earlier - it was going to be done late March, but late April is better weather wise, and not having no central heating/water for 1 or 2 days is not that bad in springtime *she hopes * It will be great when it's all sorted out. It involves removing the bathtub, and instead having a shower which will have easy access (as there will be no steps, the floor will be anti-slip when wet and the walls have more handrails) . It will look similar to bathrooms/showers you see in hospitals. It's easier access for people with disabilities. It means I will have much easier access to the shower.
  8. Just had a surveyor to make the plans for our bathroom conversion to be a wet room . Then it will take 5 or 6 days of work to do it! . The thought of 5 or 6 days of tradesman tramps around the house, and the first days are going to be serious work .... ,but not until late April. Looking forward to have a wet-room, but all the hassle!! *mega cringe*
  9. 10% read of The Kite Runner , and was starting Burial Rites by Hannah Kent this morning, but my brain is really fuzzy, and the Icelandic names, place-names and the 19th century (very formal) letters , are too much hard work at the moment.
  10. I remember reading The Cat in The Hat and Green Eggs and Ham (my favourite ) when I was in primary school. Those books are almost the only books that I still remember reading with pleasure, when I was around 8 or 9 years old.
  11. Yes, I'm in!
  12. The series is too tempting for me as I've just downloaded The Winter Queen
  13. Oh that's great that you are going to doggy sitting!! With little dogs, and the dogs owners are people you know, should be less stressful than after the Moses Experience too . At least the little doggies shouldn't be able to nibble so much of you as Moses was
  14. 13 years already!!
  15. Ooh how exciting! I'm waiting for Dynamite Room from the library, and Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig
  16. I have just finished Angela Thirkell's Summer Half - a good read too. So now I have started The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
  17. An excellent review Michelle. Especially as I will be see Matt Haig's book signing event in March, now I am looking forward to this even more, after knowing the ideas in this review.
  18. Tee hee, I love pancakes too. We are having bought pancakes for the first time, 'cos flipping your own pancakes is too much of a faff.

  20. I'm 3/4 reading Angela Thirkell's Summer Half, and I am loving her style of writing (E F Benson meets Evelyn Waugh I think). So I bought the ebook of another of her novels The Brandsons.
  21. I’m looking forward to my 50th birthday, as the trouble is with the later 40s is that I have to think really hard exactly which year I am in now!! It will be much easier to remember 50. It was so much better music then......these young people and their "music" these days...blah blah
