I've just been offered a job at a care home - 38.5 hours a week, £6.35 per hour - so I probably won't manage to read as quickly as I have been doing! Though I've not actually been given a start date yet.
Congrats
!

That's a nice photo
. Got to love the BCF in the background too, very appropriate for here
. You seem not very tall in the picture (based on the size of the ad behind you), is it true that you're not so tall? I'm not very tall myself, short, if you will
, so I was curious

I'm glad you really liked this book
. I've bought it but haven't read it yet (it's on the TBR).

Oh noNow the 'Ice & Fire' books have gone to the larger size, too, and they're re-issuing David Gemmell's books in a new style, and I noticed the other day that the Peter V Bretts have gone to the larger size as well. So, basically, most of the series I'm collecting for keeps are probably going to end up stuffed. I wonder how many different styles I'll have Sanderson's 'Stormlight Archive' in by the time the tenth book comes out (assuming I'm still reading them)

Ah right! Sorry, when I said free periods, I meant having time in between two lectures. Obviously when I had no more lectures for the day, I'd go home.

I'm not sure if you're still around, SteveScaffardi, just wanted to say I quite liked this book (apart from a few scenes), it was quite funny. I loved the sequel even more. There's a third book on the way apparently, which I'll definately buy.

I wasn't quite sure about this book so I haven't bought it yet. Judging by the posts here though, maybe I should add it to my wishlist again XD.
EDIT: Hmm apparently I had already done so. I normally have a pretty good memory but lately it's been a bit confused at times!

My boyfriends' mum really likes these books. I saw two of them for cheap on a book fair and have since started to collect them (recently buying some in a sale). I haven't actually read any of them yet (I prefer to read a series in order, though I have the first one so I could read that one). I look forward to reading them, they generally get pretty good reviews and it may be a great combination of mystery, detective and contemporary fiction that I'll really like. I don't really read many thrillers anymore but detectives I still enjoy, and these books look to have great character development too (I accidentally read the back of I think part three and six or something, and it spoiled something for me), so all in all it sounds pretty good. I also own a few books of his other series (also picked up on a sale or book fair), I don't know if they're good or not though they seem to have favourable reviews.

XD, well it's always nice to wear a jumper that belongs to your other half, imo. I've nicked my boyfriend's vest/jumper too on occasion. At my house I don't do this much since I have a lot of my own vests but at his house I've borrowed his jumper before.
What do you do during your free periods, do you study?
I never liked having free periods at university (when I still had lectures), since uni is two hours travelling away, there was no point going back, so I was always forced to stay somewhere at uni (there weren't a lot of good study rooms at the time, not sure how it is now). Gladly I didn't have many free periods, they tried to make sure there weren't many.

I hope your books improve soon. It makes sense that taste changes throughout the years, ie. I like different things now than when I was a teenager (for example I used to read more thrillers and less contemporary fiction). I hope you find some nice books soon that you'll like a lot, reading is at its most fun when the book read is really good! Good luck

That's nice to hear
, I look forward to reading them. Perhaps I should revise my idea of reading them last, reading them sooner might be better, leaving the rest of her books, with the same pattern, to pick up again later (I think I've read over half of her other books). I look forward to her next one coming out in a while, though it is a short story collection and I'm not a big fan of short stories.
I've been reading Jodi Picoult - Leaving Home: Short Pieces, an ebook which consists of two short stories and a letter. I've finished the first short story and am now reading the letter. It was a good short story, though I wish it had been longer. The ending was rather abrupt for me, as in the ebook you can't tell how far you are with a part of it, only of the whole thing. I kind of was expecting the story to go on, as I felt there could have been perhaps more. As said above, I'm not a big short story fan, in general. There are a few that are quite good, I really enjoyed ie. the books Arthur C. Clarke - The Other Side of the Sky and Peter F. Hamilton - A Second Change at Eden, they were both really great, but in the case of most of them, I want more! I love big, long stories with detailed characters. I thought the characters in this story were quite interesting.
One problem I had with the story was that the formatting, it jumped from one situation to the next. I felt this would have been clearer with some new lines between the text, but there were none. I couldn't distinguish between a new paragraph in the same situation (indented I think they call it?) and a new situation (indented as well).
I thought the story wasn't as good as some of her other work that I've read (I would give the story 4 stars I think), I haven't read the rest of the ebook yet though so that rating may still change.

That's such a pain! I have series like that too, where some covers are different or some sizes are different (or maybe both). It really is quite annoying! I have one series (translated into Dutch) where 4, 4 and 4 books have got different covers iirc (12 in total), they're all pretty covers in their own right, it's just a shame they don't match. A size difference annoys me even more though, I have this with various series too and it really doesn't look nice at all on a book shelf (it makes it a lot harder to stack books on top, too).
(it's very nice that I'm not the only one who's annoyed by this kind of thing!)

Have you read the trilogy that Penny Vincenzi did about the Lytton family?
Not yet, I'm saving them for last (because they're generally considered so good I thought I'd read them as last of her books, so I still have a few other books by her to read), silly maybe but
.
I read the whole Earth's Children trilogy quite recently & although i enjoyed them the books did lose their appeal as the series went on, the last one was really awful
In my opinion the first & third are the best of the lot but you might think differently when you read them Athena
Thanks, I'm sorry to hear that, will see what I think. My parents have read them all, or at least the first five, not sure about the last one, and they also liked the one they read last, less than the ones before (which is number five or six, I'm not sure).

Nice photo
. May I ask what your natural colour is? I would guess brown since your eyebrows are brown but I could be completely wrong! And awww your niece is cute.

Awwww
, are you normally home during those times, maybe it should be adjusted? I never like it when it's too cold, I own several big vests just in case! (I get cold easily, and sometimes in the winter it can get a bit cold here)

That's good to hear! I'll keep it in mind if/when I update the Kindle
.

That's very pretty! I own a lot of Robin Hobb books but I haven't read them yet! I kind of wanted to conclude the Wheel of Time series before I start another fantasy series (as far as I know some of her books are connected to each other), will see how it goes.

Those are some pretty covers!

I talked with my boyfriend about the PS4 and he says he's not in a rush to get one, unless it comes with a launch title he's really interested in etc. The PS4 doesn't bring much new to the table (so to speak) just yet, we'll have to wait until we hear more, perhaps at E3.
-
I fully agree! In one case it wasn't bad though as the cover I ended up with matched the ones I already had (a The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency book), but in another case I would've preferred the cover shown on the site.
-
I've done so now, thanks
.
I read the Kindle User Guide, I'm not sure if this counts as a book XD. I've also organised the ebooks I bought and the freebies, into collections. There are quite a few on there, so I'll have something to read for a while. I'm particularly looking forward to read Jodi Picoult - Leaving Home (Short Pieces), among others.
-
Edit: I believe it's taken in your home as well?
Yep, it's taken just outside our house, in the garden.
@AbielleRose
Awww, such sweet dogs!
EDIT: The line spacing was messy again, think I'll make a post about it.

I ordered some books from BD and I had the same thing Karsa, the picture showed one thing but the cover of the actual books I received was different. Kind of strange and stupid. I've had this once with Amazon too, only once though (but in the Amazon case it was an improvement so I didn't mind!).
