x I agree, they are very big! I think they're worth it though, I hope you read them eventually and enjoy them . I hope you enjoy A Christmas Carol . x x Awesome! I'm glad you liked the book / story . I quite liked Love Actually, would love to see it again sometime. I finished George R. R. Martin - A Song of Ice and Fire 3: A Storm of Swords 1: Steel and Snow a few days ago and have started to read Diane Chamberlain - The Shadow Wife (previously published as Cypress Point). It's very good so far, just like other books by her that I've read.

I think The Complete Polysyllabic Spree is not listed correctly in the GoodReads list. According to wikipedia and the book itself, it isn't actually part one but part one and two I think, if you check the dates of which he writes.

I'm glad you enjoyed your book! It's always great, isn't it, when we read a brilliant book .

Below is a list of the Dutch books I was given, amazingly there were only two I already had and there was one book there were two the same copies of. Here's a list of the ones I didn't have yet: Carlos Ruiz Zafón - Het Kerkhof der Vergeten Boeken 2: Het Spel van de Engel (The Angel's Game) Stephen King - Dodenwake (Pet Semetary) Stephen King - Insomnia (Dutch) Stephen King - De Spelbreker (Gerald's Game) Stephen King - Christine (Dutch) Stephen King - De Duistere Kant (The Dark Half) Stephen King - Misery (Dutch) Stephen King - De Marathon (The Long Walk) Stephen King - De Noodzaak (Needful Things) Stephen King - Duistere Krachten (Skeleton Crew) Stephen King - Desperation (Dutch) Stephen King - Dodelijk Dilemma (The Dead Zone)

(emoticons removed) x x Thanks ! That makes sense . x x Thanks ! x x Thanks ! I think I liked the first Harry Potter book the best. I read it when I was 14 in school and it has the strongest memories for me. As the series progressed I was less and less interested, particularly from book four on (I'm not even sure if I finished the sixth and seventh book), until seeing the films made me want to re-read the books, as an adult and closer together. So for me the first one will always have the strongest memories. I can imagine reading the series for the first time as an adult, the series probably won't affect you as much as someone who reads it when they're a teenager (I mistyped this as 'teeanger' ). x x Thanks ! I think you should start with the first book, really. It'll make the most sense . I can imagine it must have been very confusing, starting with the last book of the series! x x That's pretty cool ! x x I agree! It's lovely to re-read some old favourites. I hope you'll like The Snow Child, I recommend reading it when it's a bit cold outside so you're all the more into the wintery mood. x x I do think you would've liked them more if you'd been able to read them when you were a child.. I fully agree with it. I read the first book when I was 14, then the second and third book, already released in Dutch at this point, then I read the rest as they came out in Dutch and my sister bought them (though I think the fourth book belongs to me?), but I wasn't so impressed (not sure how much I read of books six and seven). I think I felt at this point that I was older and wanted something more for adults, or something. But I'm really enjoying re-reading them at the moment, in English. It is quite a well thought out world and when you're in the mood for something like this, it's very nice (so far, at least.)

x This makes perfect sense to me! Thanks .

x I've heard good things about it, so if you do I hope you enjoy it . I've been given Het Spel van de Engel in Dutch a few days ago, which in English is The Angel's Game.

A Little History of Literature sounds like an interesting read, nice review !

Sorry to hear The Grown Up Gap Year Diaries wasn't as nice as you'd hoped it would be. It sounds like a nice premise, though I'm not sure if it'd be a book for me. Personally I never really understand why people'd take a 'gap year' , I was forced to take one due to health issues and forgot a lot of things that I then had to re-learn . But then again, I'm not someone who'd want to travel all over the world . My brother is thinking of travelling around the world in 80 days, in a race (called The 80 Day Race), using renewable energy sources.

Congrats on your totals ! Well done .

x I think this is true, yes .

Great review, I'm glad you enjoyed the stories ! The book looks so beautiful, too.

Tim's Horror, Fantasy and Sci-Fi Reads from 2012

Wow! That must've taken you some time, Laura ! I'm impressed. I'm currently reading A Storm of Swords 1: Steel and Snow, so have a bit more to catch up on. There is a lot going on, a lot of characters etc, I am enjoying it though, for the most part (other than the cringy bits). It shouldn't be too long before I have finished it. -
It sounds like an interesting premise of a book! If I had found it in a charity shop I probably would've bought it too. Sorry to hear you didn't like it too much (though you still gave it 3/5).

Congrats on the chicken! Can I ask how you made it, is it chicken with a lemon sauce, or what do I imagine with 'lemon chicken' . It sounds delicious anyway. I've never eaten raw carrot sticks with any toppings, I always have them on their own. It sounds like a good idea but I have to lose weight so will keep eating them on their own.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't really enjoy it. It sounds like a great idea for a book! I loved Jostein Gaarder's The World of Sophie (I presume that's what it's called in English? I have the Dutch translation from Norwegian) and have a few other books by him on my shelf. I hope your next read will be more enjoyable .

It's exciting! I joined last January so I haven't had this happen before. I've already planned a bit for my thread, now I just have to get around to finilising it and posting it.

Congrats on the progress .

Welcome here ! Your dog looks very cute. I love The Book Thief, I read it earlier this year and thought it was such a powerful story.

x Yay! I love this show. We've just finished watching the third series of Jonathan Creek.

I don't recognise the latest quote. But then again, I have read The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy quite some years ago and didn't guess that one either . Is it written by a male author?

x I liked the film, and like the book even more (I watched the film before I had the book). I agree about those stories, I thought that was a really nice extra. Congrats on managing another 50 pages ! I've continued to read George R. R. Martin - A Song of Ice and Fire 3: A Storm of Swords 1: Steel and Snow and am quite far in it. It's quite enjoyable though there are a few cringy bits. After this I'm thinking of reading the third Bridget Jones book.

x I agree with Julie. We all like different things .
