  1. x That's really sad .
  2. Great review! Personally I know more of the history of general Europe in the days of the Romans, not so much in detail about Britain. I followed Latin and Greek courses when I was at secondary school and they included the history of those people. Your reviews are always interesting to read, you have a way with words.
  3. x Thanks for the elaboration . No, I don't understand either why someone would be so attached to plants and yet is so cruel to animals.
  4. Hey Noll, welcome back !! I hope this year will be a good one for you, with less anxiety and more fun things.
  5. x I'm glad you liked it! I also hadn't seen a whole lot of Star Trek when I saw the new film, and I liked it too. I hope you like the second new film as well. @ Chaliepud I like that film too, did your daughter like it?
  6. It sounds like you made the right decision, June. I hope the future will bring something better for you .
  7. I'm reading Robert Jordan, Branson Sanderson - The Wheel of Time 14: A Memory of Light and Holly Smale - Geek Girl 1: Geek Girl and am quite enjoying both of them.
  8. That's so sweet! I haven't yet read P&P but still.. .
  9. That's great Devi !!
  10. Wow, sounds like you had a great time ! I hope you'll find yourself some nice books, that's a lot of vouchers!
  11. That's a really interesting review ! I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I don't know if it'd be for me, I find it difficult when things are wrongly spelled and don't do well with animal cruelty, but the premise sounds good though.
  12. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, KM . I hope you enjoy your new books, sometimes we just have to go and treat ourselves.
  13. I'm glad to hear you had a great experience with the graphic novel . I think I'd like to read it too, it may have to go on my wishlist ! I have some other graphic novels based on classic literature but I haven't read them yet (great idea, I shall put one on my read-a-thon pile).
  14. x Thank you ! x x Thank you!! It's great to hear we have many books in common. I won't keep up this pace since there are bigger books as well that I want to read, but yes maybe I'll beat my goal, it'd be great to do so . x x Thank you, Kidsmum !
  15. I've only read books by one author that were mystery books set in ancient Rome (ages ago, in Dutch). So I'm just going to go for blank here and ask, is it a book by Steven Saylor?
  16. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better now. I hope you get back into the routine soon. My mood seems to swing quite a bit lately, due to my medication. One moment I'm feeling really down or annoyed, the next I'm feeling happier. I also am quite stressed and am looking forward to going to the book fair in a while or going into town so I can buy things to read. Which strangely strokes with my aim of not buying as many books and not spending as much money, this year. I really am an addict! Still, just because I'm going doesn't mean I necessarily have to come back with a lot of books..
  17. I quite liked Deponia too!
  18. x I hope you enjoy it as much as I did ! x x I'm glad to hear that ! I've read a bit yesterday but not a lot, since I felt too tired. The Wheel of Time series has a lot of characters and doesn't read as easily as some ie. chick-lit books. I'm really enjoying reading it but it tires me out a bit more than an easier book. Hmm, maybe I should start reading another book that I can read when I feel more tired, or something.
  19. I have it on my TBR but I haven't read it yet (along with a few other books by the author). I have heard that it's good too, in particular from someone whose opinion on other books I agreed with, so I have high hopes.
  20. I read Walt Disney - Donald Duck Mega Pocket Winter a few days ago (I bought it in December). I haven't read a Donald Duck book in ages but since it's a book I feel it should be counted as a book read. I enjoyed reading it, it was great to see the characters again after so long. I rate the book overall 8/10 (or ****), there are several stories in it but I don't know if I remember my initial thoughts to the stories now that it's been a few days since I read them, so I won't be rating them individually (but the next time I read a book like this I will be making a review). I have a lot more of these Donald Duck books upstairs in the attic so when I move to the bakery I'll be unpacking them and giving them a place. I've read most of them. I'll also add them to the book database at some point, since they are books. I also have a lot of Donald Duck magazines. I'll be saving those, I'll be giving to charity or throwing away some old teenage girls magazines, I don't think they'd be that nice for me to read again (also, I do need to get rid of some things). We'll have to wait and see.
  21. (note: I had to remove some emoticons) x x Thanks ! x x Thanks . Woohoo!! I haven't got yours yet I'm afraid but I'll let you know when I've received it. x x Thanks! You can call me either Gaia or Athena.. whichever you prefer . x x It's great to have other book people to talk with! Thanks . x x Thank you ! x x I tend to become chatty when books are involved , but only with people I feel very comfortable with (it's easier online, too, for me). Thank you !
  22. I hope you have a great reading year in 2014 !
  23. x The first set of books are by Asimov, the Foundation trilogy, they are SF. The second set is by a different author and they are about Alexander the Great (not SF) .
  24. Nice reviews! And Then There Were None is on my wishlist I believe, I'm glad you enjoyed it .
  25. That sounds interesting! I'm glad you enjoyed the book . I had no idea there were books about the history of supermarkets.. it sounds like something I might enjoy reading when in the right mood.
