So we saw the first episode of season five. Overall I liked it. Though there was a lot going on with a lot of characters! Most scenes were quite short, so it felt a bit disjointed in places. However, since I've read the books I was able to easily follow it really. I found it very enjoyable and I look forward to see episode 2. I'm particularly looking forward to the story line of (spoiler for those who haven't seen seasons 1-4):

I've managed a walk and two sessions on the Wii over the last three days. It's not much, but it's a start. Small steps.
That's nice
! Do you play 'Wii Fit' or such?
-
Ah I think I quite liked Wyrd Sisters when I first read it
. I hope you enjoy it when you re-read it!
I agree! Hilarious

Great review! It's a shame you didn't like this one as much as the earlier ones, though I think I would agree with you on that.
And
@ The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I loved that!

Went to church this morning and had a great time then came home, got ds's car and went to the commissary to buy some local honey and vitamins. Its funny that I can't find local honey at the local health food stores and grocery shops but I can find them on a military base. Go figure. Now I'm home and about to work on the taxes as 15 April is the deadline. Since we never get anything I don't rush to do it but as its needed by tomorrow for our son's financial aid for school, I need to get it done today. When its done, I'm going to take a nice restorative nap!
I hope you enjoy(ed) your rest!
I've managed to achieve the lazy day I was planning!
Went out for coffee this morning, and had a good session of reading, then did my shopping for my lunches for the next few days at work, and then back for reading, lounging and general laziness. It's been a lovely weekend … shame it has to end, really. Ah well, back to work tomorrow.
I'm glad you had a lovely weekend
.
I worked in the vegetable garden today. Planted 4 tomato plants, 3 pepper plants, and 2 eggplants I also planted 2 rows of green beans.
This sounds nice, I hope your vegetables will do well. Ours are doing allright for the most part.
I'm still ill so I've cancelled my appointment with the ambulante hulp. I hope I'll be better in a few days at least, I have another appointment coming up later this week, and I need to go to the doctor's as well because of a strange mark on my leg (it's been there for a while now).

Am enjoying The Moon Field, a book set around the time of WWI, one of my favourite eras for books.. A complete change from the magical world of Half Wild. I like to vary my books so I don't read anything too similar one after the other, does anyone else like to do that?
I do this too, most of the time. Though if I'm reading a trilogy I sometimes read them all after each other, but sometimes with one or multiple books in between. During the read-a-thon I tend to read more contemporary fiction than anything else, but generally with my reads, I switch genres a lot. Like if I read a contemporary book, then after that I'll read a fantasy, or if I've just read a historical book, I'll then pick science-fiction etc. I don't like to read too similar books one after the other usually, that gets too samey somehow.
I've read the first chapter of Philip K. Dick - A Scanner Darkly and I'm on page 494 out of 753 of Penny Vincenzi - A Perfect Heritage. I don't often read two books at once because it usually confuses me, but Anna and I are reading the Philip K. Dick book together and I thought it might be nice to read something shorter alongside the longer book.

It will be aired here tonight. If I feel up for it, I'll be watching it.

Wait, why are you reading Allegiant before Insurgent? I'm confused as Insurgent is book 2 and Allegiant book 3..
I haven't heard of Violin but I liked some of the Vampire Chronicles books. I hope you enjoy it!

Sheesh I really think I need to post here more but I just keep forgetting, usually visit my two cat forums that are easy, quick and mindless hehe..
My internship is going gooooood, finished my report introduction friday and sent it to my supervisor, who will be back tuesday from her convention in Las Vegas/holiday in her home country Poland. Then the real experiments can start, testing glues for meniscus repair on bits of bovine meniscus tissue. Am sick of reading, didn't think I'd ever say that but by reading I mean scientific articles.
In two weeks it's time for the Fantasy Fair and I can't wait!!!
I'm glad your internship is going well! And yes, reading scientific articles can get tedious, I completely agree (at least in the area of chemistry and physics). I hope you have fun at the fair

Nope - we only "met" online a few months ago - we're both members of the same Outlander fan/penpal group.
Ah, it should be exciting to meet "in real life" then! I've met people I knew from "online" several times, it's actually how I met my boyfriend first too. At first it can be a bit scary but soon, at least in my experience, you'll recognise that they are the person that you know from their writings and it'll be a lot of fun (hopefully). I wish you a lot of fun if you do meet up in the future

Spring! 14 degrees and sunny, we're due to have 25 degrees this week, tue/wed/thurs are all going to be 21-26 degrees. Little taste of summer, yes please!
I didn't know this yet, woohoo

That is nice news, I hope you two can meet up! Have you ever met her before?
I hope you enjoy your dinner with your extended family

Don't worry, you didn't offend me at all!
It was just a general observation in case anyone's interested. I didn't mean to imply that you offended me in any way. I'm not that fussed
I remember when I first joined the forum, I used to write the English titles of books like I would have in Finnish, for example The curious case of the dog in the night-time, and it took me a while to realize that that's not really how it's done
Even though I'd taken English lit courses! I guess I'd forgotten about those rules by then...
I know about the German words, yes. Coincidentally in my previous post I quoted a passage from A Tale of Two Cities and Dickens says Light instead of light.
And you definitely don't have to remember that about Finnish book titles!
It doesn't bother me at all, I just thought it might be an interesting thing to know about how we Finns do it over here
I'm glad I didn't offend you
. I do find it interesting!! Finnish is such a different language from the languages I know. Actually now that I think about it, most Dutch websites have the titles not capitalised either (other than the first word). I just capitalise titles in my own book list, because I find it looks nicer.
-
I think I read it first as a teenager... I can't be sure. My read books log doesn't go that far
It's a rather old book and not in very great condition, so I was very very happy when I found a newer edition at a charityshop a year or so ago and could buy it as a second copy, in case the old one falls into pieces.
Awww
. That's a good idea, to have two copies.
A sidenote: we don't use capital letters for the rest of the words in book titles, in Finnish. We only use a capital for the first word in the title
For instance, A Full Man by Tom Wolfe is Täysi mies in Finnish.
Ah thanks, sorry if I offended
. I assumed it would be up to the individual, like I thought it was that way in English and Dutch (I know in German one must capitalise certain words, always). I will keep it in mind the next time I want to write a Finnish book title

I am hoping to pick up the speed soon. I planned on a lot of books this month but now that I'm doing World Without End, It might just be a few... but since I am coming to Amsterdam on my vacation next month (
) I will have at least some time to read, being a solo trip.
That makes sense
!

I think reading a little about it on Wikipedia would probably be a good idea before reading the book just because I think it helps to have some basic knowledge of the times and the event itself. I don't think you need background knowledge to read it though, it would just be very helpful and you might enjoy the story better with that info already in your mind
Thanks, I will keep this in mind
!
Ya, I'd agree... just read some basic stuff. There is so much crazy Kennedy stuff out there, just read the Wiki summery and maybe the actual shooting/ assassination part of Wiki.
Thanks
, I think I will do that before I start the book.
I'm glad you had fun on your Spring Break, BSchultz! I wish you, and Anna good luck with your finals!
Have fun with the prom, BSchultz!

I'm now 16% into World Without End... That'd be page 163
out of 1088. Looking forward to some 50 page and less stories for next read a thon, as I think this epic is going to take most of the month! That's ok though, I've sorta resigned myself into making this WWE month for me
I'm glad you're enjoying it so far, it does seem like an epic story! I hope to read Pillars of the Earth this year.
We don't have the best garden, and as silly as it sounds I can't get comfortable enough out there to read, as it's in a perpetual state of renovation.
And if we are out somewhere else - like at the beach - then I can't concentrate as there are too many people around.
I'm sure I'll find more time - I just have to prioritise a bit better.
That makes a lot of sense, I hope you'll find more time at a later "time"
.
Having said I had no time to read, I stayed up til 2am last night to finish The Rosie Project!
Not done that with a book for bloody ages. It felt great. Although less great when my alarm went off at 7am.
Have the sequel but want to savour it, so now starting The Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this book!
I read a lot yesterday and this morning in Penny Vincenzi - A Perfect Heritage and am now on page 440 out of 753. The first day or two days I didn't read much in it, but I read a lot yesterday so I made some great progress. I sometimes did have to stop to process the book (because there are quite a few characters in it), but I am enjoying it overall (though I don't think it'll be a 10 / 10 read, it's enjoyable but not brilliant.).

It was cloudy and a bit rainy here yesterday, but today it's quite sunny
.
Brian, have fun with your bike ride!
-
That's a beautiful picture!
I hope you have some nice reading time today
.
I'm feeling a bit the same as yesterday, a bit better in some regards and a bit worse in others. Gladly though overall I'd say I'm not worse than yesterday, which is good I think as hopefully that means I should feel better in a few days or such.

There are a lot of books I'd like to see being made into good films or TV series, but if I had to pick just one book / series it would be The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, made into a great TV series. I do know there are currently discussions I think, to see if it might happen. Other than that though, there are a lot of other books that I think would be suited to be adapted in a TV show or film, too.
-
The Humans by Matt Haig is only 90p on Kindle at the moment. I'd highly recommend it - my favourite book of the year last year.
I can echo this, such a brilliant read.

Topics merged and put in the General Fiction forum as I thought it'd be better there than in Horror / SF / Fantasy as some crime books for example can be disturbing too. (If anyone disagrees, we can always discuss it and I can split up the topic again, this is possible.)
I haven't read any of these books. I've heard of some, but not of others. I'm generally someone though who's not really into anything disturbing (I always look away when they show disturbing gore on the TV, though with books it's a bit easier), so I'm not particularly going to seek out these new books I didn't know about.

Wow, those are pretty special!
Oh it reminds me, a few days ago an article was posted on a website: 10 Extraordinary Historical Libraries in the Netherlands. It didn't occur to me to share it then but it does now, I know you won't be able to understand all of the text since it's in Dutch, but the pictures are pretty and I had no idea we had such old historic libraries in my country.

This is exciting news.

Great new books, I hope you enjoy them
! (sorry about the mismatching covers though, that's annoying
)
I love the photos with your cats

I shall go forth to your thread and read the review
!
I hope you find some nice books at the library
.
I'm still reading A Perfect Heritage and A Scanner Darkly but I've been quite distracted so I'm only reading for ie. 5 or 10 minutes and then I get distracted by something else. I don't know if it's A Perfect Heritage that's the problem, or whether I'm not feeling much like reading, or whether I just have trouble concentrating because of being a bit ill. I'm going to try to limit distractions today and see how I get on. I seem to enjoy the reading once I'm reading for a little while, but to get started, I don't quite feel like it. But I do want to do some more reading, particularly in A Scanner Darkly. I hope my mojo won't disappear or anything.
