  1. Brian's Book Log - Ongoing

You're not missing much if you don't read any more of this series. It became very formulaic.
  2. Finished A Pound of Flesh by Alex Gray this morning. Halfway through a re-read of Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. I think it's even better second time round.
  3. Those are great Muggle not.
  4. Headaches when reading?

The last time I got new glasses I had problems with them. The optician said they were the correct prescription. I insisted they recheck and when they did they found the optician and written two numbers on the prescription backwards. I've had glasses since I was 3, so I knew the problems I had weren't just adjusting to a new prescription. It might be worth getting the prescription checked. Good lighting when reading as shirley mentioned really helps too.
  5. Athena's Reading List 2017

I love organising my books. You make me want to redo mine, even though I only moved a few months ago, so they definitely don't need it.
  6. The Crossing Places by Elly Griffiths

I'm always on the lookout for new crime series'. I'm adding this to my list.
  7. Michelle's Reading Adventures 2017

Noll, I'm a medical secretary, just started in March. I mainly do transcribing, but also fill in for admins when needed. I work in the mental health area of our hospital. I love it. I meet lots of interesting people and it's quite varied, so you don't have a chance to get bored.
  8. Athena's Reading List 2017

I had a friend in high school who was adamant she didn't want kids. A lot of people told her she'd change her mind or regret it later. In her mid 20s she fell pregnant accidentally (was married to a guy who also didn't want kids). People started tell her she'd see how much she did really want kids when the baby was born. I saw her when her daughter was about 8 and she told me having a child hadn't changed her mind. She loves her daughter, but still wishes she'd never had kids, and knows for certain that's what she would have preferred.
  9. Tried once, never again?

Tripe - Tried it at a friends when I was a teen. Disgusting stuff.
  10. I'm another who didn't like Gone Girl. I only finished because I thought there had to be a great twist somewhere. No book could be that predictable. Harry Potter, started the first one with my son. we both quickly agreed we didn't like it. Dan Brown anything. The first I finished. The second was just the first rewritten it seemed. Gave up on it about halfway through.
  11. Janet's Log - Stardate 2017

I had something like this a couple of weeks ago, but I was on the other side. I was working away at my desk and one of our clinicians was doing some paperwork on the other side of my desk. They often do this, so that's no problem. But he kept looking up towards me, and I thought he was looking at me. It wasn't till I got up to do something after about half an hour that I found out why he'd been looking in my direction so much. He'd been looking at a calendar on the wall behind me. I've only been in this job a few months and didn't know there was a calendar there. I've never worked in a job with cubicles, so I don't know what that's like, but I think I'd be uncomfortable too.
  12. Computer Help Thread

I have that happen sometimes, but for me it only happens on a local news site stuff.co.nz. Like you, if I open it again in a new window it fixes, but it is really annoying. Sorry I don't know what it is though. Edit: I'm on a laptop not tablet.
  13. Frankie reads 2017

Camilla Lackberg and Asa Larssen to name two. I know there's others I've read too.
  14. Frankie reads 2017

I'll watch for your review of The Hypnotist. I've been reading a lot of Scandinavian mystery/detective books lately.
  15. Poldark

I thought it was probably me remembering wrongly. I'm probably mixing them up with something else. The books are really good, and I enjoyed the series. I'm going to check if my library has the whole series or not, as they're good at not having complete series.
