I have no excuses for this, I don't even listen to Cradle of Filth in general, but I like this cover. (Which doesn't mean I don't like the original!)

Oh and this will get me a few enemies.

Beats the original!

Not me! I actually agree with you - I'm old enough that I remember it first hand, and I have a 7" vinyl single of it in the attic. Funnily enough, we were only talking about it yesterday after a Beatles question on a quiz show. Thanks for digging out the video, has cheered me up no end this evening. :D

Wohoo! :D You're very welcome, I'm only happy to have someone agree with me :smile2: I have to confess, when I listened to this song back when I was a kid, I love-love-loved it, and I never knew it wasn't an original song. It was only 10 years after that when I was at a bar where there was a Beatles cover band and they played the song that I realised it wasn't a Bananarama original

Great that you still own the vinyl single, that's precious! :smile2:

Cat's in the Cradle - originally sung by Harry Chapin, improved upon by Cat Stevens, and then made awesome by Ugly Kid Joe. The UKJ version is my favourite, which is funny because I quite like Cat Stevens and hate UKJ!

Only The Good Die Young, originally by Billy Joel covered by Me First & The Gimme Gimmes.

I don't mind Joel too much (blame my parents) but a song like that sounds so much better played by a slightly questionable punk band.

Don Henley's Boys of Summer By The Ataris (my favorite cover, Smooth Criminal, already mentioned :D )

Worst cover- and this my favorite band, so that says a lot- is Big Yellow Taxi By Counting Crows.

Who - Summertime Blues           originally done by Eddie Cochrane

Cream - Crossroads                  Origin disputed, but generally credited to Robert Johnson

I have brain lock right now, but can remember some dreadful covers I wish I could forget.

I really like the original of Summertime Blues by Eddie Cochrane.....great song.

btw, thanks for posting both the original artist and the cover artist of the song (that is how the thread is supposed to work) :)

Joan Jett and the Heartbreakers version of "I love Rock 'n Roll"

This is not my forté, but I thought it was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers / Joan Jett  and the Blackhearts

I give Linda Ronstadt an edge over Roy Orbison on the Blue Bayou song.

Another great song, Crying, written and performed by Roy Orbison. Don McLean did a great cover on it. I can’t decide between the two and give it a tie. Roy Orbison and kd lang did a duet on Crying in a performance which was awesome.
