  1. I remember my dad recommending Dennis Wheatley books to me when I was young. The only one I remember actually reading was "The Devil Rides Out" and it frightened the life out of me:blush:
  2. Do I take it you wish the bug to be reinstated? I havent found out what it was yet, as soon as I do I will let you know immediately

  3. Persuasion - by Jane Austen This seemed to me a much more mature Austen that those that have gone before. It was almost a new read for me because I think it was many years ago that I first read it. I really enjoyed it, felt comfortable with all the characters, particularly Anne Eliot and Captain Wentworth. However it was quite easy to guess the outcomes of the various "couplings" and intrigue. I also wish that the ending hadnt been so quick. A little more detail of how the family received the news would have been interesting. I would also have been happier if Mr Eliot had been "found out" and received his come uppance. I am now in reading nowhere land, trying to decide what to read next.
  4. Was that in this month's GH mag? If so I must look at it more closely.
  5. They did runs of all the others "pushing and killing her", but then showed Trish sobbing and saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" and ignoring her own baby. Same sort of way they let you assume that in Maggie O'Farrell's book. Did anyone see what the critics said about it??
  6. Filo pastry - made a blackberry and apple pie with it on saturday. It was great.
  7. It was obviously Trish, the mother of the baby who killed the little girl wasnt it? Could have been done better.
  8. Thanks for that reply Sam. In answer to your questions, I used to sing and dance and appeared publicly in pantomime when I was 12. I gave it up at 16 - a long time ago. Creativity in my family, I would say yes, my daughter is good at drawing and painting, knitting and sewing and both my grandchildren play the piano, clarinet and saxophone. I have often wanted to try my hand at writing and get ideas popping into my head regularly, but just dont know how to start. I keep a diary trhough:lol: All the best.
  9. I am well into Persuasion now and am really enjoying it. I am not sure whether I have read it before, but I did see the BBC version of it.

  17. Oh my God Ruth, my first reaction to your review was "Oh I cant read that, no no no it will kill me, I will cry buckets", but then as I continued reading, it sounded such a wonderful story I have made a note of it to go on my TBR list. Thanks for a wonderful review.
