Well, I'm not sure if this would fit your criteria but I have read a book series called Stravaganza by Mary Hoffman, in which certain people can kind of travel back in time to Renaissance Italy while they are asleep. I know it's a long shot, considering you want them to meet in their dreams but I thought I might suggest it

It's a really good YA series, I absolutely loved it.
