Can anyone recommend non-fiction written like The Elements of Style by Strunk & White, or The Art of War? I don't care which subject. The "Dummies" or the "Idiot's Guide to..." series are distracting with the attempts at humor, and children's books give a superficial overview of the material. What's left tries to make the author look more intelligent than he or she is. The Elements of Style is to writing as The Art of War is to strategy; any recommendations for other subjects?
