_sarah Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 This isn't the kind of thing I usually read, at all, but I'm currently really obsessed with martial arts and meditation and China and Japan and all that sort of stuff. (Watching way too many kung-fu movies when I should be studying...) So yeah. Preferably historical, maybe translated into English from Asian authors, I don't mind. Soo not obsessed with Haruki Murakami ahemcoughcoughsniffle. Quote
_sarah Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 No edit button?! Oh no, what is my life! I'm the irredeemable typo lady, for real. This is going to be so smooth. I just wanted to add that I don't mind fantasy elements or whatever, or young adult books even though I should've outgrown them years ago haha... Um, kickass ladies help too. :] Quote
Janet Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 The edit button will appear when you've made 10 posts. Welcome, btw. There are loads of members who like Murakami (I've only read one) so I'm sure you'll soon get some suggestions. Quote
Waraila Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Now I'm not sure whether or not you have read some of these books, but James Clavell's Shogun is a good novel. So are the others he has written based in the asian region. I also like The Tokaido Road , by Lucia St. Clair Robson. Which is a fictional account of the 47 ronin story. Hope that helped. Quote
SaraPepparkaka Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I second "The Tokaido road"- it's a good story. Quote

paun Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I am teacher of martial arts and do martial arts over 40 years and I also love to read about martial arts and for sure best martial arts in book are John Rain stories writen by Barry Eisler. He has black belt in judo and knows all about japan also. Eric van Lustbader also writes very good stories with martial arts and my favorite is French Kiss. Quote
