Timstar Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Nazis at the Centre of the Earth... as brilliant as it sounds, made on a shoe-string budget the CGI and acting was hilarious. Loved it!
chesilbeach Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 About A Boy - haven't seen it in ages and as good as I remembered
poppyshake Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 At long last Amelie .. very quirky, very weird but enjoyable
Inver Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Hanna. Quite enjoyed it I hated it...went to see it with a friend and was actually glad to come out....we just didn't get it. Hubby and I went to see 'Chariots of Fire' for the second time on the big screen. We saw it way back 30yrs ago when it first came out....still a great film.
Kylie Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I watched Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam, followed by African Queen with Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart.
chesilbeach Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 At long last Amelie .. very quirky, very weird but enjoyable Ooh, one of my favourites! I love the style and look of it, so beautiful to look at as well as entertaining.
poppyshake Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Ooh, one of my favourites! I love the style and look of it, so beautiful to look at as well as entertaining. Yes, it's so cleverly done .. always something surprising happening. I rented it but need my own copy .. I don't think I took more than half of it in.
Karsa Orlong Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Flicking through the channels and found Aliens was on, so naturally had to stop and watch it. Again.
Kylie Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 In the past couple of days, I watched most of On a Golden Pond, with Katharine Hepburn, and rewatched some of Cloverfield. Today I watched A Town Like Alice. None of them is exactly cheery, so I think I'll find something sweet and funny next (Jimmy Stewart comes to mind).
Peacefield Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I came across The Philadelphia Experiment on Netflix over the weekend and since my cheesy 80's sci-fi quota hasn't been filled for the month, I decided to watch it. I especially loved seeing a giant aircraft carrier and a whole town get sucked into a hole/time-warp thingie while a 1940's Navy sailor gets sent to the year 1984. Good times!
chesilbeach Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Caught Say Anything earlier - haven't seen it in years!
chaliepud Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I went to see Mr Peacefield last night in Magic Mike, he didn't have a big part but he did have a big part.... ;-). I hadn't seen a trailer before I watched it and was actually surprised at how good it was, it wasn't just a bunch of guys stripping.... My daughter was off sick today so we watched We Bought A Zoo, lovely movie... :-)
Timstar Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Went to see The Amazing Spider-man at the Imax today. Great film, very enjoyable. 3D was brilliant, but it is still a little too early for a reboot in my opinion.
pontalba Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) Last night we watched the last of the BBC Wallander films we have. The Fifth Woman. So. Well. Done! I still like the Swedish version actor better, but Kenneth B. really came into his own in this one. Almost forgot, We watched The Statement with Michael Caine last night too. It was based on the book of the same name by Brian Moore. Very close, but with the obligatory fair, bad guys don't get away ending. Feh. Edited July 16, 2012 by pontalba
frankie Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 About a Boy and Moby Dick, both of them today. I was disappointed in AaB, but watching MD, I now know the plot and I think I could tackle the novel some day
vodkafan Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Aliens Good for you Paula superb film. About a Boy and Moby Dick, both of them today. I was disappointed in AaB, but watching MD, I now know the plot and I think I could tackle the novel some day I like the film About A Boy whereas I really hated the book. I know most people are the opposite. It is the only film I like Hugh Grant in!
Nika Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 (edited) Two series of Miranda - wonderful Britcom. Couldn't stop laughing...even thinking about it makes me giggle right now! Edited July 17, 2012 by Nika
poppyshake Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Two series of Miranda - wonderful Britcom. Couldn't stop laughing...even thinking about it makes me giggle right now! Love Miranda .. so funny. She's making the third series now .. should be shown later in the year.
Nika Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Yes! Can't wait for that! Hope it will be what I call hilarious
Raven Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Cowboys and Aliens Not bad, but not brilliant either. Would have been better if the story was stronger.
