Spencermm Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Anybody read any Elmore Leonard? If so, what did you think? Quote
kurtz Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I read many of his books but my favorites are Unknown Man #89 and Pronto. Quote
Ruth Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Haven't read any, but my dad is a big fan and recently gave me a book by Elmore Leonard - a collection of short Western stories. Quote
Spencermm Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 Leonard is also the writer for one of the few tv shows I like- Justified. It is apparnetly based on a character he created for one his books- Raylin Givens. Do any of you know in which book(s) Givens appeared? Quote
kurtz Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Givens is in Pronto and one more recent one which I forget the title. I like show too but if you read novel I think you will agree tv show character much different from book. I prefer character in book myself. He seems like a true tough guy instead of tv guy who seems to me like the usual weenie that most movie and tv actors are these days. Quote

I *think* Givens is in Fire in the Hole, which I just placed on order at our library. Will check today on Pronto. can't wait to check em out. Thanks for the tips Quote
dave165 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 One of my favourite authors and one of the best writers of dialogue in crime fction I think. Also a couple of the better book to film adaptations with Out of Sight and Jackie Brown. Quote
