frankie
I cannot wait to see what kind of titles are on that list! I fear I'll be sorely tempted to take up this challenge myself, the quality of teen/YA books today is astonishing! Good luck with the challenge, I'll be following your progress. Kylie
I can't wait to see what books are on the list either. This would be right up my alley and maybe more appropriate than the 1001 Children's Books challenge that I'm doing, which includes picture books. Good luck with it! Janet
I expect you know already, Laura, but there is an excellent site for this book. I did the quiz yesterday - I guessed most of the answers and got 16/20! Looking forward to following how you're getting on.

I did the quiz yesterday - I guessed most of the answers and got 16/20! Looking forward to following how you're getting on. I got 12. I love the poll on that site, to which the vast majority of the answers relate to the Harry Potter series.
lauraloves
I cannot wait to see what kind of titles are on that list! I fear I'll be sorely tempted to take up this challenge myself, the quality of teen/YA books today is astonishing! Good luck with the challenge, I'll be following your progress. I never really realised how good YA/teen books actually were, I kind of bypassed a lot of them and now I'm really getting in to reading them! I can't wait to see what books are on the list either. This would be right up my alley and maybe more appropriate than the 1001 Children's Books challenge that I'm doing, which includes picture books. Good luck with it! I'm kind of doing the 1001 childrens books challenge too, but I'm kind of ignoring the first couple of hundred on the list because as you say they are picture books! Can't wait to see the list for this one, may be possibly tempted to have a go. (: the books on it are really good, and there are lots more recommendations in it than I first thought! I expect you know already, Laura, but there is an excellent site for this book. I did the quiz yesterday - I guessed most of the answers and got 16/20! Looking forward to following how you're getting on. I've just tried to get on that quiz, but my internet is being slow this morning and it wouldnt let me I shall have to try again later! I apoligise in advance for once I post the book list for anyone that gets hooked At the moment I'm typing the book list up straight out of the book as all the lists on the internet don't seem to have the right books listed! So I'm going to get it straight out of the book, I'm currently on the books under B! hopefully I shall have finished typing by the end of the day
Kell
I got 17/20, but it was often a case of guessing. And many of the books onwhich there were questions were not books I'd consider aimed at children or young adults, such as John Grisham's The Runaway Jury - definitely an adult book! Perhaps it would be appropriate for older teens, e.g. 17-19, but I certainly wouldn't hand it to a 13-y-o and expect them to understand or enjoy it - LOL! (Personally, I loved it, but I was in my late 20s/early 30s when I read it!) I've just also taken the poll and there are book mentioned there I'd say are definitely NOT for teens. To name a few, The Kama Sutra; A Child Called It, The Rats and Hannibal!

I should have known you would have already tried that! I've been in and out of the forum and your thread all day and I'm dying to see the list, so you can be assured that all your typing will not go unnoticed or unappreciated. I got 12 out of 20, which was pretty disappointing. What's worse is that I suspect I got one or two answers wrong to books that I've actually read. I've just had a quick flick through the guide and I'm sure the Kama Sutra is not in there! I was just about to suggest searching the net for the list. Every list I've come across has been slightly different so I'm taking mine right out of the book I'm now on C so ill soon have the first post up and ready Same here Kylie I only got 12 out of 20 which I was really dissapointed with I thought I would do better in my defence my teenage reading was a long time ago I got 12 out of 20 aswell
Susanne
Oh boy, looks like I am going to be very busy for the next few years . I have always enjoyed YA books and I am still reading most of my daughters (or try to as she reads at least twice as fast as me ) She is more and more leaning towards adult fiction now though, so this list will be great for both of us to rekindle our love of YA books Thanks for putting the hard work in PS: Just had a look at the series books - does it mean we have to read all of them, too? I'm very sorry for getting you hooked I'm getting there with the list, the first section is done and I'm now nearly through the second The series are listed in the main list, so I think so, but then again one particular series has 50 odd books in it. Thats just under a years reading for me!
Kell
Just been looking at the A-D list and there are quite a few books on there I most certainly wouldn't regard as teen books and, in fact, think many adults would struggle with some of them too! There's no doubt there are some great books on that list, but I wonder what their criteria was for inclusion in a list supposedly aimed at teens... Still, a great challenge and I think I can see myself picking up a few from the list too (I already have some of them on Mount TBR - LOL!). I think its quite simular throughout the book, Things like War and Peace I think would be quite challenging for a teenage read. They have age ratings beside all of them and most do not go over 16 years! I'm really excited to get stuck into this challenge . . .as soon as I finish the lists!
